It gets mentioned all throughout the year. Everybody wants to know when those BBC games are. All day at school everybody's telling me, 'I want 30 points or 50 points.' Everybody is looking forward to it.
Without the volunteers, we couldn't even think of having a season.

Everyone always says they need to have something to do in January. A film festival seemed like a fun thing.

armstrong cancelled chances coach college dead entire feeling iowa remember spent stupid terrible time weekend
I remember one time (Ozark assistant) coach (Kevin) Armstrong was going to take me to a tryout for a coach at a college in Iowa and I spent the entire weekend partying. I was just feeling dead and terrible and called him up and cancelled the trip. I just think back to how stupid I was to take away all of those chances I had.
In the short-term it's interesting. In the long-term, it's good. The more things we have going on, the better it is for the community.
pickup starts
If he starts making a couple, they all start going in. It's the same way when we play after-school pickup games. He's the sparkplug for us a lot of times.

We moved it around. Had a couple of chances, but the first day we worked on it was today. You can't expect miracles out of it.
care effort systems work
There's not very many systems that work if you don't have the work ethic. And it just spreads through the whole team. I don't care what system you play. If you don't have that effort there, it's not going to work.

We couldn't give (Downey) the ice time that he thought he needed, so we had to make a move and take a look at some of these young players because we've got to make decisions on them coming up.

We played hard tonight, I thought we had a good effort. We had penalty trouble once again, some deserved and some not. You get into two 5-on-3 (power plays) for that amount of time, that's tough -- they're bound to get a score. It was almost 19 minutes of power-play time for them.
