It doesn't matter what color the mayor is as long as they do something about unemployment. People are hungry out here. Crime is also a huge issue in my neighborhood. People need help and love. Once we have that, we won't have as many problems.

I still get up every morning at 4 A.M. I write seven days a week, including Christmas. And I still face a blank page every morning, and my characters don't really care how many books I've sold.

I think if you look at the M.O. of this team all year, we have had trouble making stops. We have turned the ball over, we lead the league in turnovers, points of turnovers, and assist-to-turnovers. I keep telling them if you want to play playoff basketball, you've got to take care of the ball and execute. We don't get it and we have to keep working on it.

I think I'm part of the last generation of songwriters that are really influenced by where they grew up because things these days are becoming more and more homogenized, ... I think I knew I was funny in Elementary School. I think most funny people realize it when they're young. It tends to come out of stress or trauma - something that makes you want to be funny.

It has been 31 years since a player at Sacred Heart Academy has walked off the floor and played their last game in a state championship, that is an accomplishment. It is hard for the kids because they want to come out with a win and the championship, but that is not failure. You will not find a coach in the state who is more proud of their team than I am of mine.

I think he's one of the great players ever to play college football. If he comes back next year, which we think he will, he'll have a great shot to win the Heisman.
