It's a new injury that came last night, ... I'm not fit enough to play a tennis match. It's a pity I can't play but I hope I can play in Guangzhou. Maybe now I can see the Forbidden City.
It's hard because I want her to be in the tournament, ... I want her to win just as much as I want to.
Serena and I are exactly the opposite of anything that ever happened before in the game. The old tennis world was pretty reserved. Serena and I are bold. We stand out. We have color. We're strong. We're pretty. We have personalities. We think things out. We're smart.
At the same time, ... I feel like I have enough experience to get here and really know what it takes every day and every match, no matter what someone brings to me.
It takes a lot of hard work to win titles,
They were always positive -- they knew I could do it, ... I would just play a terrible match and my father Richard would say the most positive things. It really helped me through a difficult time.
We're going to try to work on our rankings this fall, ... We both just want to win the match, whether she's playing me or if she's playing someone else.
The reason I don't watch the news is because I don't like violence. My life has been touched by violence. When you watch the news, all you hear is reports of violence, ... So that's why, you know, I don't expose myself to that because it's heart-wrenching and terrible.
This was my opportunity, I should take it.
Are you ready for the Williams sisters? ... We'll see you on Sunday. There's going to be a lot of hard hitting and a lot of hard serving. We'll both have some tricks up our sleeves.
Are you guys ready for the Williams sisters? We'll see you on Sunday.
Each tournament is important for me, ... Each tournament would do something to my ranking and such kind of thing, step forward for the future. Also I think it's opportunity, the opportunity to do I love, to play my best, to play for the people who appreciate what I do.
Even though I've won major tennis tournaments, been on television, radio and numerous magazine covers, seeing my picture on McDonald's packaging was one of the coolest and most exciting moments of my life - I literally beamed when I saw it. McDonald's Global Casting Call will give people around the world the chance to feel the same excitement I did that day.
We've reached the best of our profession Actually, I'd like to stay No. 1, but I'd like to see Serena No. 1, also. I'm not giving it up, but I'm sure she'll get there.
