passing pounding pressure start took
I think (Black and Bober) did well, ... But when you get that kind of lead, you want to start pounding the ball... . Most of our passing was play-action. That took a lot of pressure off those guys.
backup bad ball coach coming drive moving situation understand
With the quarterback situation like it is right now, we don't know what it's going to be from a backup standpoint. Then we scored on the first drive and were moving the ball and the one bad play. So we said, 'You know what? Everything's moving pretty good. Why take any chances?' I understand where coach is coming from.
ball behind biggest early effective fall five four heels last mix run running
Our biggest thing is we can't fall behind early like we did. We can't become predictable on offense. Where we have had effectiveness over the last four or five years is when we can mix up the run and the pass. When we are effective running the ball then we can get our play-action going. We can get our drop-back going. We keep defenses on their heels and keep them off-balance because they don't know where we're coming.
cost field goal missed sick
I'm sick to my stomach. No missed field goal cost us this game. We had many opportunities to win. That's the disappointing part.
everybody feels
I think everybody feels real comfortable with where we are.
home last success tough
We know it's going to be a tough game. They've had a lot of success in home openers over the last decade, and we know we're going to get their best.
breathing nice
Not that I ever relaxed, but it was nice to know he wasn't going to be breathing down my back side.
against anytime credit defense game good johnson knowing larry line obviously offensive oriented run running type
Anytime you're in a game like this and you know it's going to be a grind-it-out, run oriented game, knowing the type of defense that they have and how good they are against the run, obviously give a lot of credit to the offensive line and running back Larry Johnson for that.
changes lose pro time
Any time you lose a 10-time Pro Bowler, it changes things a little bit.
ball couple creating defense last played spread throw
The last couple of years we've had to spread it out and throw the ball and try and (to) outscore opponents. But the way our defense played today, creating turnovers, I'll take that anytime.
accustomed defense pace playing
It was a different kind of pace for this offense, ... With the defense playing the way that it was and with a big lead, it was more of a grind-it-out attitude. That's not something we're accustomed to.
hard hits knowing sort taken turns twists
That's the hard part for me is not knowing how it happened. I really haven't taken any sort of hits or uncomfortable twists or turns or anything like that that could have done it.
guy hear involved starting three week weird
It's crazy. I've never been involved with anything like this. You hear of one guy going down, or at the most, two. But to have three guys. Here it was a week ago and Quinn was on his couch. Now he's starting this week. It's a weird set of circumstances.
happy job positive team took
We weren't really happy about it. But we did our job. We focused, and we have to be happy about that. The team took a positive approach.
