accustomed defense pace playing
It was a different kind of pace for this offense, ... With the defense playing the way that it was and with a big lead, it was more of a grind-it-out attitude. That's not something we're accustomed to.
great measure point
It's a great way to measure where we are at this point of the season,
backup bad ball coach coming drive moving situation understand
With the quarterback situation like it is right now, we don't know what it's going to be from a backup standpoint. Then we scored on the first drive and were moving the ball and the one bad play. So we said, 'You know what? Everything's moving pretty good. Why take any chances?' I understand where coach is coming from.
home last success tough
We know it's going to be a tough game. They've had a lot of success in home openers over the last decade, and we know we're going to get their best.
both game great marquee pride run terms test
That's going to be a great test for both sides, ... We take a lot of pride in our run game and they take a lot of pride in their run defense. So that's going to be kind of a marquee matchup in terms of how this game goes.
both great test
That's going to be a great test for both sides,
agenda good progress
That's my agenda anyway. I feel good about the progress I'm making.
far four losing meet step
As far as losing four in a row, I feel like we're a much different team. I think we have 15 new guys. We have a much different defense, a much-improved defense. We just have to find a way to step up and find a way to meet this challenge.
ball blowing difference field half harder kicked mud raining resting second though time torn wind
I think the first half was a lot more manageable, even though it was raining harder and the wind was blowing harder. But as the field was torn up, with the ball resting in the mud every time you could get the snap, there was pretty much mud kicked on the ball so it made a big difference in the second half.
passing pounding pressure start took
I think (Black and Bober) did well, ... But when you get that kind of lead, you want to start pounding the ball... . Most of our passing was play-action. That took a lot of pressure off those guys.
everybody feels
I think everybody feels real comfortable with where we are.
completion dumb help nice run
Just when we'd get something going, we'd get a dumb penalty. We'd get a nice run or big completion and then get a penalty. We just didn't help ourselves.
bit dad escape family good hopefully last normalcy provide week
I think it's important to play. No. 1, that's what my dad would want me to do, just like last week he would have wanted me to play. It would be good for my family to try to get back to some normalcy and hopefully provide a little bit of escape while the game's going on for all of them.
ball behind biggest early effective fall five four heels last mix run running
Our biggest thing is we can't fall behind early like we did. We can't become predictable on offense. Where we have had effectiveness over the last four or five years is when we can mix up the run and the pass. When we are effective running the ball then we can get our play-action going. We can get our drop-back going. We keep defenses on their heels and keep them off-balance because they don't know where we're coming.
