Every year that I've been lucky enough to win this tournament, my dad's been there to give me a hug. He wasn't there today. I can't wait to get home to see him, to give him a big bear hug.

I would love to win it and hope that this year will be my year. The 36-hole match-play format will be good preparation (for the Ryder Cup, which also is match play), and we will all be looking for some confidence.

The Player of the Year means a lot because it's from your peers. That is like the ultimate compliment. The money list doesn't really interest me that much only because if you play more, you have a better chance of making more money and I don't play that many events. I'm concentrating on the bigger events. If I can win more events than anyone in a year and more majors than anyone in a year, it's going to be a great year.

That's the biggest difference, that I'm hitting it so much farther and harder. My putting is just as good, but it's been sporadic this year, which is interesting. I normally don't putt that way. This year is one of those weird years where I either putt great or I don't putt well at all.

It's nice starting off the year with the checklist not as long to get ready for Augusta than it was last year when I had to make some major changes. This year it is just fine-tuning which is great.

It just is playing different this year being fast. We haven't played it like this in a while where it's been dry like this.

It's important, but it's not that important. If he has it wrapped up, so be it. Anybody would rather have player of the year than the money title.

I think the atmosphere is nowhere near what it was in 2000 because I had won the U.S. Open by 15 and the British Open by eight, so 23 shots in two tournaments is pretty good. This year I've won two major championships. The Masters was a little bit closer, but I won the British by five. The atmosphere is also a little different because I've done this before. I guess from some of the media I talked to the novelty factor is not there anymore; I've already done it.

That's better than where I was a year ago. So I'm in good shape.

To be able to hold all four majors - the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open, PGA - all concurrently I think is the Grand Slam. But a lot of people have a different opinions on that. People think you have to win it in the same calendar year.
nice tired years
My body is a little bit sore from all of the practicing and playing and training, and your mind gets a little tired of it, too. It's nice to be able to recharge and come back fresh for the remainder of the year.
