cannot great round shots turned
You just cannot give away shots like that. I turned a great round into just another round. It was very frustrating.
ball easier grabbing shots
Short-game shots are so much easier when the ball is grabbing and holding. Before it was skidding and repelling.
backing ball clean difficult fact golf hardest longer picked shots
More than the length, it's the fact that every ball is backing up. Every ball picked up mud. That's the hardest thing in the world. You can have length, and you can have longer shots to the green, but if you don't have a clean ball, it makes for a very difficult golf shot.
ahead couple early felt good hours lower number post posted shot shots wish
I felt if I shot 66, that would be a really good number to post early because I'm two hours ahead of the leaders. I wish I could have shot a couple shots lower and posted that, but you never know.
ability amount bear golf inordinate pressure pull quality shots shoulder somebody
It's not physical, where you go up there and put a shoulder in somebody and take him out. It's about the ability to bear down and pull out quality golf shots on your own, and put an inordinate amount of pressure on you're opponent. That's the only thing you can do in our sport.
best good great hit hung mind needed shots stuff turned week
It turned out to be a great week. I didn't really have my best stuff this week but I hung in there with my mind and hit some good shots when I needed to,
atmosphere bit british factor guess major masters media near novelty nowhere open shots talked won year
I think the atmosphere is nowhere near what it was in 2000 because I had won the U.S. Open by 15 and the British Open by eight, so 23 shots in two tournaments is pretty good. This year I've won two major championships. The Masters was a little bit closer, but I won the British by five. The atmosphere is also a little different because I've done this before. I guess from some of the media I talked to the novelty factor is not there anymore; I've already done it.
bad couple drop kept key momentum patience played shots
Patience was the key today. I played a couple of bad shots but made key putts, didn't drop any shots and kept the momentum going,
angles difficult easy great hit holes marginal shoot shots taken tee
It's never easy to shoot 65, but it's even more difficult now. Some of the holes where you could hit marginal tee shots and still have great angles into the flags, that's been taken away.
bunker hit left looked nice position putt shots
I hit two really nice shots and then just chickened out on a bunker shot and left it way short. I wasn't in position to make birdie, and he was. And I made the putt and he didn't. All of a sudden, it looked from potentially going back to 2 up for him ... now we're all square.
couple golf happy hit loose played quality shots solid
I played solid today, ... I hit good, quality golf shots all day and I hit a couple loose ones, but more than anything, I was happy with the way I putted today.
couple course difficult front played shots
I am very happy. I played well and could have done a couple of shots better on the front nine. You can get shots going out on this course but it's difficult to get anything on the back nine,
next shots over-it
You hit a bad shot, you have to get over it right there and then so you can get focused on the next one.
golf shots evolve
Golf is evolving, every day, every shot.
