agency attack broken bucks dangerous everybody fit free guys hate role spend waters
We're going to attack free agency just like everybody does. You try to find the guys that can fit a role for your team. (But) I've said this over and over, and I hate to be a broken record: I think it's very dangerous waters to go out and spend beaucoup bucks on someone from some other team.
affect component defensive earlier energy football guys jim key looking maybe nfl passion realize step ultimately unit
Certainly, the defensive coordinator is the key component on how the unit functions, ... I think Jim has the kind of energy and passion that is infectious, and I think it could affect our players. But ultimately we realize we're looking for guys to step up and become NFL football players, real pros, maybe a little earlier than they would anticipate.
ability chaos coaches guys handle heat involved nfl offensive pick react seems smart
He's smart, and offensive coaches like to have smart guys that know what they're doing, can pick up things, can react in the heat of battle. And Will seems to have an ability to handle the chaos that's involved in an NFL game.
becomes beyond core good guys length sure
I have some ideas. Cullen Jenkins is a good player. If he becomes one of our core guys you'd like to make sure you can have him beyond the length of his contract.
again anybody bring brought bunch combine doctor guy guys interview last might particular question reason somebody talk
I don't think we brought in anybody like that last year. Usually you bring in a guy your doctor might want to look at again for a particular reason or you might have a question that didn't get answered. You interview a whole bunch of guys at the combine and you might want to talk to somebody again.
compelled fill spot
We're going through our options, and we don't feel compelled to fill the spot right away.
ability appealed comfort interview leadership level mike personal process stood
What stood out to me in the interview process was Mike's leadership ability and the comfort level that he and I had on a personal level. Mike is someone who is a tough, no-nonsense person. That appealed to me very much. And he is all about football.
future good
We feel very good about our future going forward.
decided stay turned
We had some conversations, and as it turned out, he decided to stay with Minnesota.
bit cap free helped might money ourselves players room spend worthy
We've had some losses. But I think we've helped ourselves a little bit in free agency. I don't think just because you have cap room you need to go out and spend a lot of money on players that aren't worthy of that money. We might do some more before it's all said and done.
best deadlines free positions
We've never put deadlines on him. (But) I think it's important to know what you have at all your positions as best you can (going into free agency) so you know what you want to do.
fits game guy help maybe player plays polished receiver somebody special teams
If we could find somebody that fits a role, maybe a guy that's a special teams player but also can play receiver, or somebody that's more polished as a receiver who can help us in the game plan, that'd be fine. Or it could be someone who plays a different position.
agency defensive everybody free hard hope outside page players sign wishing work
Obviously, you're always wishing you could go out and sign a Reggie White, but those players don't make it to free agency anymore, ... So you kind of do what you can and outside of that you work hard and get everybody on the same page with the defensive coordinator. And hope it all works.
bay begin best coaches green head potential process run talk
My talk with him (Sherman) was very brief. I will begin the process of interviewing potential head coaches this week. I do think that in the long run this is what's best for the Green Bay Packers.
