It was an unusual game, but the Gamecocks won, and that's what we came here to find out. I'm not going to feel too bad, because a few plays here and there, they beat us.
We believe it is a very similar recruiting class to last year. You never know until about five years from now. We certainly feel the offensive lineman, the defensive lineman and a few players here and there will help our team immediately.
It was a tough night, but we're 1-0 and we're not going to sit around and cry about it because we won the game. It looked easy early and all of a sudden it got tough. I'm not going to be moping too much because a few plays they beat us. I'm going to enjoy being 1-0.
We divided them as evenly as we could. We obviously have a few guys that have to play for both teams. They'll be on the Green team. It'll be the Garnet, Black and Green guys and they'll play for both teams.
There may be a few that say, 'Well, he's trying to use that as an excuse for getting his butt kicked by some teams. I'm not trying to use any excuses. We sort of are what we are.
I think they dislike Florida, to tell you the truth, a lot more than me .... A few fans might want to yell some insults at me which is fine. I've heard it all before. Hurl insults, just don't hurl bottles, and I'll be fine.
Patrick got off to a very rough start. The first two he threw right to the guy. ... After that he sort of hung in there as best as he could, and hit a few here and there. But he played about like a rookie quarterback, I guess. I don't know where he was throwing some of those.
I don't want to praise our guys too much for beating this team. Had a few good plays here and there. Still a long way off.
I'm not going to feel bad because a few plays here and there, they beat us, ... I'm going to enjoy being 1-0.
The first few years, throwing was very easy. The defenses weren't geared up for it. Then later the defenses got a lot better toward stooping the pass.
We just wanted to look around in the stadium and realize how fortunate we are to be able to coach and play in front of 80,000 people that love their team like we have here. Who knows if it does any good or not? We'll find out Saturday at 1 o'clock.
We just try to improve and improve and improve. We don't worry about how we look so much. We stayed healthy and that's always, I think, the number-one priority.
We weren't quite good enough. We didn't block well enough or tackle well enough and that was the difference in the ball game. A little block here, a little tackle there.
We got Pops a catch for the record book.
