anybody bottom caught four good knew lap last main messed missed open pass run trying turn
That was my main thing, trying to get off there and not let him get a run at me going into Turn 1, ... The only lap I messed up was the first lap on the restart. I went in and missed the bottom a little bit. It was a little slow, but it wasn't too bad. After that I caught it pretty good the last four laps. I knew I was getting through there good enough. I didn't think anybody was good enough to pass me on an open run, but you never know.
crashed given glad good nationals race win
I was glad to see Kraig win the Nationals the other night, ... I probably would have given him a pretty good race if I wouldn't have crashed (in a preliminary race).
fun good groove move
It was a good racetrack, a fun racetrack. You could move around on it. There was more than one groove on it.
good home run terrible
We used to run a lot of them back home when I first started, ... I can run terrible on them or I can run good on them.
bottled bottom everybody few good hit turns work wrong
I had a pretty good car, ... I got a little bottled up in Turns 1 and 2 a few times, but I think everybody was getting up there and getting tight. If you hit it wrong it would wad you up a little bit. Then I got to where I could work the bottom in Turns 3 and 4 and I had two grooves to work when we got to lapped cars. I had a pretty good way to go then.
belt coming definitely few gears good miles pit ready start work
I definitely have to work on a few things -- my restarts, going through the gears and coming in and out of pit road. We now have 200 miles under our belt that we never had before. It was a good start and I am ready to do it again.
bottom caught everybody good running stuff turns
I caught the bottom there in Turns 1 and 2 and was running pretty good when everybody was slinging that stuff off of the bottom,
good heck helps main plugging three top win
The heck with the preliminaries, I want to win the main nights, ... We've been pretty good all the time. We keep plugging away in the top two or three in every show so that helps a lot.
car catch fast front good groove lose miss racing run stay top
You can't run over the top of them, ... They're down in the fast part of the groove and racing themselves. The car was working good to where I could keep a little momentum. I would miss it once in a while and lose a little bit, but when I'd catch it right I could stay with them and get a run at them and get back in front of them.
experience gave good mistake turned
I made a mistake but it turned out to be a good thing because it gave me more experience working the draft,
across car knew racing sprint street winning
Winning at Talladega is pretty big. I knew that when I was sprint car racing and racing across the street over there,
early freed fuel hard race rid standing tight
I was so tight standing up so early in the race that I was just having a hard time, ... As we freed up and got rid of some fuel I was a little better but I was still too tight.
knocked top trapped
I'm all right. It knocked the top down and I got trapped in the car. That's about it.
bit bottom catch corners couple figured guard hit last might mix race rhythm roll run sort spots struggling sure tight took top tried work worked
I had to work the whole race tonight. I was struggling to get around the bottom. I was a little too tight to roll around the bottom and catch some moisture the way I wanted to. I got a little bit of a rhythm going. Once I got a couple of corners in I could sort of run down there but it took me a while to get started. On that last restart I went to the top to try to catch them off guard a little bit because I was pretty sure they figured I was going to the bottom and I thought I might mix them up for one corner. Then I just tried to hit my spots and it worked out well.
