harder obviously races win won year
It's obviously a lot harder this year to win and actually I haven't won the races I should have and I've won some that I shouldn't have.
beside
It's better than having P.T. (Tracy) beside me,
car curb eager fast lap mistake pushed single touched wall
It was not perfect. I made a mistake on every single lap and I brushed the wall on the first (fast) lap. I was probably a little too eager to go fast too early. I touched the curb in the chicane and that pushed the car wide. That was too close.
crazy extremely finger hard inches knew mind second survival
It was a crazy race. It was extremely hard on your mind because you knew every second was a survival mode. You are inches from each other. Sometimes I couldn't even have put a finger in between our wheels.
best smooth
The best I can say is it's not been a smooth ride,
achieve again bit credit crew ending extremely felt foot good happened hopefully last obviously performance picture piece proved pushing race single taking tape team
It just felt like my McDonald's crew on every single piece of tape on the car, you know, pushing me around. It's pretty much a good summary to what happened today. I think it's all to their credit what kind of performance we get in this qualifying. Kind of taking myself out of the picture really because in qualifying, just really put the foot down and it's all about the team effort. Obviously they proved to be extremely good at that. So during the race it's a bit different story, and you have to have a good ending in traffic. Hopefully we'll be able to achieve that again as well as we did last year. It should be a good race. It was really spectacular last year.
feeling good obviously secure spot
It's a very good feeling to secure a front-row spot - that's obviously very important from now on,
exciting perfect race smooth stop thinking weekend
It wasn't the most exciting race ever. It was a perfect weekend, no drama. I couldn't stop myself from thinking 'What's going to go wrong?' It's been a smooth weekend all the way through.
difficult knew lose needed ours tough weekend
It's always tough to say, but I think we probably would have been difficult to catch. I knew we had everything we needed to win. It was ours to lose this weekend and we didn't.
car chase confident consistent good lap point starting
We didn't really chase lap times but the car was consistent and I'm very confident that we will have a good starting point when we come back in June. We got a lot done and I think we accomplished most of what we wanted to do.
best focused four last results teams
We are completely focused on getting the best results for the McDonald's and PacifiCare teams at the last four races,
chance grip room save
There wasn't a lot of grip and there wasn't much of a chance to go two-wide through there. Truex didn't give me any room and there wasn't much I could do to save the car.
best blew blow fight happen last practice worst year
Anything can happen here. You can blow up an engine. Last year we blew two in practice and warmup. For me, that's the worst scenario. The best one was gone, and that's why we had to fight Bruno so hard.
action battles cars easier fast full great guys oval run section smaller speed time tricky
The Mustang was really fast and had great top-end speed but it was a little tricky in the infield section. We could run guys down on the oval section and but some of the smaller cars had a little easier time in the infield. It made for a lot of great battles and a day full of action for us.
