car clicked confident courses good great handling hold laps needed passes power ran road strong sure team weekend
The team has been working so good on the road courses this year. The whole weekend really clicked for us. I thought it was a really good race. We made the passes when we needed to -- and we had the power and the handling to do it. We had a really good car and the whole team did a great job. I was confident we could hold them off before the yellow, but wasn't sure about the re-start. We got a great start, though, and ran some really strong laps at the end.
sort teammates
We get on pretty good. But we've sort of been teammates for years.
general good needed nice people power pulled speed speeds team
It was a good day. I think the team in general got through what they needed to get through. I think at the end it was more about tows, so the speed doesn't say much. I think we were more comfortable at those speeds than some others. Some people pulled out some big laps. All in all, I'm pretty happy. Its nice to have some power and be consistently at the top.
car definitely easier good roles target team time trailer weekend
It's always a lot easier when the car roles off the trailer quick. You just get with it. With this series, you don't get a whole lot of time on the track, so you have to be on it quick. Team Target definitely did that, so it was a good weekend all-in-all.
couple team won
It's been such a down couple years for a team that's won many championships. This team is not used to being in the back of the field.
bit compound everybody few follow good last lost move near nice scoreboard spot street team test tires top
It went well. It was a good follow up to what we did in Phoenix. It's nice to be near the top of the scoreboard at the end of each day. I think we kind of got a little bit lost during the mid-part of the day with the compound of tires we had here. We didn't get much out of it in the last few runs. For a team test and everybody here, we got what we need to get done. Hopefully, we'll move up a qualifying spot for the St. Petersburg street race.
answer belts brakes engine fall four issues knock seemed select start team three
We had brake issues to start with, then a gearbox, then brakes again. Then we had some engine belts fall off three or four times. Yeah, and we couldn't select some gears. I thought, eventually, it was going to knock us off the lead, but the team seemed to have an answer every time.
believe chip equipment gives great hard hardly race team wins won
This race is so difficult, so hard to win. I can hardly believe we won it. But Chip gives us a great team and great equipment and there are going to be more wins this year.
bring california car cause certainly circle drive effort field further great greater help hope impact impressed last media pink privilege race response satisfying season step target teams touches trip victory year
I had the privilege to drive the pink Target car in last year's race at California Speedway and I was really impressed with the overwhelming response we had from fans, media and other teams as well. It's a cause that touches us all and it's great that the team was able to take it a step further this year and field two pink cars. We hope to make an even greater impact in this year's race and certainly a trip to victory circle would help that effort and bring our 2005 season to a much more satisfying end.
car courses difficult fuel good great knew lap rewarding road season strategy target team track win
This is just such a great win for me and the Target team because we knew we had the car for this track which is very difficult and also rewarding when you put a good lap together. ... We had to have good fuel strategy and we knew this track was all about momentum. It's good to come back to the road courses and win once again. This one win makes this very difficult season so much better.
team venture want
I'm sure there will be business ventures and things down the road, but I definitely don't want to be a team owner.
hardest last teams top work
You can see which teams are at the top and I think it's the two teams who had to work the hardest last year.
broke front second somehow tires turn
We went into the second stint on tires and somehow broke the front wing. I just couldn't turn right.
level money playing
There's not as much money in the series, but it's a level playing field.
