couple team won
It's been such a down couple years for a team that's won many championships. This team is not used to being in the back of the field.
bit compound everybody few follow good last lost move near nice scoreboard spot street team test tires top
It went well. It was a good follow up to what we did in Phoenix. It's nice to be near the top of the scoreboard at the end of each day. I think we kind of got a little bit lost during the mid-part of the day with the compound of tires we had here. We didn't get much out of it in the last few runs. For a team test and everybody here, we got what we need to get done. Hopefully, we'll move up a qualifying spot for the St. Petersburg street race.
both certainly cheers coming good guy hopefully improve joining momentum people strong third year
There is certainly some momentum of him coming off such a strong year and joining our team. It cheers people up when a guy like that comes over. Both of us have had a pretty good start, second, third in points, hopefully we can improve on that.
answer belts brakes engine fall four issues knock seemed select start team three
We had brake issues to start with, then a gearbox, then brakes again. Then we had some engine belts fall off three or four times. Yeah, and we couldn't select some gears. I thought, eventually, it was going to knock us off the lead, but the team seemed to have an answer every time.
believe chip equipment gives great hard hardly race team wins won
This race is so difficult, so hard to win. I can hardly believe we won it. But Chip gives us a great team and great equipment and there are going to be more wins this year.
ended gears happy messed morning second wrong
This morning went really well. We kind of messed up in the second session, with the wrong gears in the gearbox. I'm pretty happy with the car, we still ended up second quick.
driver lift maybe pressure thinking
As a driver you're always second-guessing yourself, thinking maybe you're the problem. It does lift the pressure off.
deserves group relief
This is such a relief for the team. This group really deserves it. I'm just overwhelmed.
deserves everybody fun great group hard job loves ran relief strong true
This is such a relief for the team, ... They did a great job all day and this group really deserves it. Watkins Glen is a true drivers' track; everybody loves it. It is a lot of fun but it was a hard race. We ran strong all day, and this is a great feeling.
confident great hold start sure
I was confident we could hold them off before the yellow, but wasn't sure about the restart. We got a great start though.
dan dream growing mainly similar
I think it's always been a dream or, you know, growing up in New Zealand, that's mainly what I watched, and it's probably similar for Dan growing up in Europe. I don't know. It's still a dream. It's very difficult.
beside closed door knew sort
Going into (Turn) 5, I got beside him and he sort of closed the door as well, so I pretty much thought he knew I was there.
car definitely far front hurt locked overall pleased tires within
Overall I'm pleased with the car and how far we've come with it this afternoon. But I think first place was definitely within our reach. I locked up the front tires and set us back a little so that hurt us.
car driving selected
He'll be driving our car for selected races.
