gains joe since stop
That's what we wanted to do. Come in and get the win. We know they're on our tail. Ever since they got Joe Thornton they've made gains on us. We wanted to put a stop to it.
critique question
You never critique a win, but there is no question we can get better. It was a scrambling game.
blame ended game late lead smart turned
Once you got a lead that late in the game you've got to do the smart things. I'll take the blame on that one. I turned it over and it ended up in our net.
few guys
A few guys are going good, right now.
along faith full good
I thought all along he's done a pretty good job. I have full faith in him.
against both change controls detroit huge neutral past sure team zone
I think we can play both styles. We've done it in the past and it's not a huge change for us. Going up against a team like Detroit that controls the neutral zone really well, we just have to make sure we're deflecting it to the outside.
deep puck turned
I take the onus on that one. I didn't get the puck in deep enough, turned it over and then it was in our net.
chris difference gone grabbing hold indication noticed power richard team
If that was an indication the clutching and grabbing is going to be gone now. I really noticed it on the power plays. You know that crosscheck on the back? I didn't feel it. That'll really make a difference with Derian Hatcher, Richard Matvichuk, Chris Prong ... hold it. He's on our team now.
If that's what it takes, so be it.
behind close coming games played playing
He's coming close to playing 600 games in the NHL and those are things that you have to be able to put behind you. He did that and I thought he played really well in Game 2.
corner front grabbed hit midway
He grabbed it midway from the corner on out and gloved it down in front of him and hit it in. That's what I was saying.
front knocked looked strides three took
He gloved it, put it down in front of him and knocked it in. It looked like he took two or three strides with it.
against bury particular special talked teams
Stats don't lie. Special teams are huge. We've talked about that all year. In particular against Vancouver, we've been successful. If you get a chance, you want to bury it.
against almost beating club detroit dressing everybody great hockey knew matched necessary obviously outside patches playoff prevail series surprise team tough
That's a great hockey team. Beating that team in a playoff series is obviously a great accomplishment for our hockey club and we know it's a surprise to almost everybody outside this dressing room. We knew we matched up well against Detroit and we were able to do what was necessary to get through some tough patches and prevail in the end.
