best both healthy held injured normally
It comes down to what's best for him and the team. It's best for both to try to get as healthy as possible. I know it's frustrating for him that he can't play the way he normally plays, because he's being held back (by the injured ankle).
ball behind defensive fact guys lost share understand work
I think the guys rallied behind the fact that we lost (O'Neal). It's important for us to understand what can be accomplished collectively when we share the ball and work at the defensive end.
both build complete continue control emotions great job keeping league nobody playoffs tone
I thought he did a great job keeping his emotions under control in both series. I look for him to build on that. There's nobody in this league that always has complete control of their emotions. I thought he set a great tone in the playoffs and I look for him to continue in that vein.
came game key needed ourselves playing quarter soft third type
I thought defensively we were playing soft (in the first half) and not playing the type of game we needed to play to give ourselves a chance. The third quarter we came out with a lot of more aggression, and the third quarter was the key quarter.
business coach early fortunate good great job players progress situation sure year
It is great to be in a situation in which you have great players. You find out pretty early in this business that without good players you will not be a good coach. I have been fortunate to be in a very good situation. My job as a coach is to make sure that we progress every year and we can be a championship contender.
carter difference played
I thought we played hard. I thought we rebounded well. (Jason) Kidd and (Vince) Carter are difference makers.
everybody hung last played remember time
I can't remember the last time we had 25 assists. That had a lot to do with it. Everybody hung in and played an important part.
bottle camp caught competing experience found great lightning nba playing training transition virginia
I found that the transition to competing in an NBA training camp was not that difficult, especially with my experience at Virginia and playing in the ACC. Fortunately, I kind of caught lightning in a bottle that year, had a great training camp and made the team.
dignity everywhere excuses feet shows stuck
I don't think it shows much dignity to make excuses after you get your butts kicked. It was like they're everywhere and our feet were stuck in mud.
came dig dribble heels last name remember
For us, we have to remember what they did to us last time. They came out and just railroaded us with shot-making and dribble penetration. You name it. We're going to have to dig our heels in defensively.
credit guys hanging
Give the guys credit for hanging in there and gutting it out.
ball boards defensive guard offensive people rebound
I go back to our turnover situation. If they are down, we are going to rebound the ball better because we're going to get more offensive boards and be able to get back and guard people and get more defensive boards.
forward problem
If it's a problem, it's a problem I look forward to having.
game key point
He made a point tonight. He was a key part of the game.
