came defensive himself hits needed
He's an exceptional defensive player, and then he came up with some big hits when we needed them. He made himself very valuable.
break came felt fought good hard hit lights orlando point seemed until
Gallo's been lights out, he's been good. We fought hard in the game. We seemed to have some other opportunities. ... We just couldn't break through until Orlando came up with the big hit for us. Normally, when we got to that point of the game, it's pretty solid. I felt pretty good at that point.
We're not 100%, but we're back. It's a boost.
asking counting kept whether
We kept counting over there, ... I was asking whether we would get another hit.
ballpark best bottom coming history line played step
We're not in the best of situations, obviously, but we feel pretty good. We've got a history of being able to do it. We're coming back to our ballpark where we played pretty well. But bottom line is we need to step up and do it.
across couple fighting good job looked run turn win
We had a couple of chances. We couldn't get a run across the plate, but we got back in the ballgame. We did a good job fighting to get back into the ballgame. It looked like we were going to turn it and win it.
chance win
We had a chance to win this ballgame,
ballgame chance failed hit jason lane top win
We had a chance to win the ballgame when we had the top of our lineup up, but couldn't, ... We had every chance to win but failed to put the ball in play. Jason Lane was the only one to hit the ball hard.
break chance couple gets happened settled
We had a chance to break through in the first couple of innings, then he settled down. You've got to get to him early, before he gets in a groove. That's what happened to us. He got in a groove.
bad bit hammer hurt missing pitching played small
We've played a little bit of small ball, it's just not winning. We're making some bad pitches, and they're not missing them, either. When we make mistakes, they hammer them. ... We've been hurt by the long ball, which is uncharacteristic of our pitching staff.
board quickly
We wanted to get one on the board as quickly as possible.
break guys runs win
We had some other opportunities and couldn't break through. When your big guys go to the mound, you've got to win them. We just didn't put enough runs on the board.
cut everybody slack three throwing
We'd cut him the same slack we do everybody else. You have to give him three outings before you really take a look at him. He's been throwing some, so you'll probably give him two outings here.
bench best extra guys help sharp step
Extra guys have to be sharp, too. Biggio's our best player, and that's why he's out there. But you still have to have your bench guys sharp enough to help you when you need them to step up and come up with a hit.
