When you look at the two teams, (the Patriots) have been in more situations like this and they are more experienced than we are. They are a very veteran and smart team, and that's our goal, to get there. What I have to do is get our guys to believe they can be there. I believe we're going to be a better football team at the end of the year than we are right now because each game our young guys get better.
The only statistic that counts is the score at the end of the game. Give credit to the Steelers. They're a tough team to play against.
But we're in as good a position as any team to absorb that. Our attitude has always been the next guy steps in, and off you go.
No one wants a disruptive situation on his roster. There is too much at stake. Without naming names, we've seen too much of it recently. Teams are getting tired of it.
We were careless with the football, and we made too many mistakes. And when you play a good team like the Steelers, that's not a good combination.
Let me say this. It's uncharacteristic of my team to have that many penalties.
I talked to a number of players on the team -- including our offensive linemen -- they really wanted to do this for him. That's all healthy stuff, that's all good stuff.
We played in noisy games on the road. I don't anticipate it being like that, but I think we will be the visiting team in that stadium I'm pretty sure, so we're going to work on that the next couple days.
We haven't quite gotten to where I had hoped we'd get to. But this season has certainly felt good, and I'm very proud of the football team so far.
Today wasn't our day, that's for sure. When you play a team like that on the road, you can't turn the ball over. That's an overused term, but it's appropriate today. That was probably the story of the game.
We didn't have a hit list of places not to go. However, I did talk to the team this morning about staying away from that area down there. ... This wasn't an isolated incident down in that neck of the woods.
We battled back. This team is young in certain places and we do some dumb things on occasion, but they're really a pretty together group. I was proud of them today.
It was uncharacteristic of my team to have that many penalties. We had a touchdown called back, a pass to the 1 called back and a punt return called back. That's tough. That's hard to overcome.
It was a nice second half. The team played very, very well, especially in the second half.
