either matter
As long as we're the ones who have one or two more than the other team, it doesn't matter either way,
ball count impressive increase luck next pitch rough threw
A pretty impressive debut, rough luck there in the first inning, but he threw the ball well. He got better as he went along. We'll increase his pitch count the next outing.
guys nasty running sat teeth
the thing sat up and hissed at us, with those nasty teeth showing. We had guys running out of its way.
against batting considered happen intrigued managing realm since talk unless
I've always been intrigued by Ichiro batting third. I was when I was managing against him, and I have been since I've been his manager. It's not out of the realm of possibility that it could happen (someday). There's nothing like that being considered now. And there won't be, unless I talk to Ichiro first. And that's not on the calendar.
five gave seeing throw warm wish
Seeing him throw like that gave me a warm feeling. I wish we had five more just like him.
competition legitimate quality second three
The most heated competition will be at second base. We've got three very good, quality candidates. These are all legitimate guys.
career gets good guys hitting performing season september slow starters track
You see guys now who are hitting .400 who, come September or July, they're going to be hitting .200. And there are guys who are notoriously slow starters who, as the season gets going, they'll play up to their career averages. We have guys who are not performing well right now who have good track records, and they'll be there when all is said and done.
expect griffin rick
Realistically, probably not. (Trainer) Rick Griffin is working with him, and he doesn't expect it to be anything good.
absolutely center field focused hour last left middle needs player shows stay thrilled trying
I would be absolutely thrilled if he's a better player when he shows up than he was when he left last year. Lopez needs a better focus. He needs to stay in the center of the field with his hitting. We really need to stay on him every hour of every day to stay in the middle of the field and stay focused on what it is he's trying to accomplish.
april august days forward geared july looking toward
If they're looking forward to days off, they're geared more toward July and August than April and May. Then there's some who don't want them at all.
amazing balls guys happens hitter pitching strikes threw throwing
I didn't like it that our guys threw so many balls. They were all throwing strikes pitching in the bullpen. It is amazing what happens when you put a hitter at the plate.
season shut soon
I'd just as soon shut him down after the season is over. He's pitched enough.
adrian player punish says talent track vindictive
I don't do this to be vindictive or to punish someone. I do it to get Adrian on track because we need him to be the player his talent says he can be. And I think he will.
terribly
I don't know that he was awe-struck, but he was terribly excited.
