Bad boys usually tend to mellow over time. At some point, particularly if they haven't won a title and if they are at the top of their game, they realize they can retain their personalities and have fun and avoid some of the drama and hassles they created in the past.
Somebody said that he was trying to break up a fight. There was no fight. He just pushed him. He put his hands to his chest and pushed him. By the way everybody reacted, everybody knew there was a problem, except for the official that got pushed.
The template for success in the NBA changed from the Portland model of 1999-2000, when I got to the league, to the Detroit, San Antonio, Miami model. Although we have succeeded on the court to the point of five straight 50-plus win seasons, we certainly didn't do it 'the best way.' We did it the most expensive way. It cost us flexibility and created lots of bad habits. That was my mistake, and it ended up costing us Mike (Finley).

One of the best classes I ever took was entrepreneurship in my freshman year at Indiana University. It really motivated me. Every 'No' gets me closer to a 'Yes'.
I was lucky. I grew up knowing that hard work and smart work has a greater impact on results than being passionate about something.
Perfectionism is the enemy of profitability.
Get me selling and I can figure out the industry. Once I can figure out the industry I can start a business in that industry.
On the Internet, there are an unlimited number of competitors. Anybody with a Flip camera is your competition. What makes it even worse is that YouTube is willing to subsidize the cost of your bandwidth. So anybody can create and distribute for free basically, but the real cost is marketing. And that's always the big cost - how do you stand out and what's the cost of standing out? And there's no limit to that cost.
