barrel game hit leading lost obviously run scoring seventh throw trying
It hit the end of my glove. It just sneaked out of there. I know he was trying to throw up and away. You obviously don't want to throw it there. You don't want him to get the barrel on the ball. But that's not where we lost the game. We lost the game by not scoring a run with Wes Helms leading off the seventh with a double.
bad bit bunt couple happier lose manager moved runners sleep tried trying
It makes the manager a little bit happier and you don't lose sleep over that, ... I tried to bunt a couple of bad balls. Even if I had moved the runners over, that's a success. That's what I was trying to do.
biggest doubles drive driving hitter lots matter pride runs
Absolutely. I've always wanted to be a .300 hitter with lots of doubles and drive in runs. The biggest thing is driving in runs and it doesn't matter how you're driving in runs as long as you are. I just take pride in that.
behind bunt depends draw drive feeling good guys hack lee move runner situation took
I took it upon myself to bunt because Carlos Lee is behind me and Geoff Jenkins, he's already 4-for-4, that's going to put them in a situation to drive those guys in and I wasn't having a very good day. That's one of those things where it just depends what day it is, if I'm feeling good than I'm going to hack away, sometimes if I'm not, I'll try to draw a walk, try to move that runner up.
along guys less runner third
A lot of guys, with a runner on third with less than two outs, we're going to concede that run. He can get that strikeout. Those guys don't come along too often, and when you've got one of them on your side, it's nice.
against beat expect guys high ourselves
You get those guys with the high ERAs and you expect to go out there and beat up on them. You try to do too much. I think more times than not we get ourselves out against guys like that.
expect hit mph smoke
(Pierre's grounder) hit right off the end of my glove. You don't expect him to smoke one down the line, especially off a 94 mph fastball.
pitching seen typical
That was typical Bagwell. You're never safe, even if he hasn't seen live pitching for two years or two months.
crowd pitching pumped seen typical
That was typical Bagwell, ... You're never safe, even if he hasn't seen live pitching for two years or two months. He's going to give you a battle. The crowd got into it, and I think that pumped him up.
ball both college last lets year
I went to that in '99, my last year of college (U of Nevada/Reno). It lets me see the ball better ... lets me see it with both eyes.
balls middle
Location. He's down, he's away, he's in. His balls go away from the middle of the plate.
chance drive gap looking maybe next pitch saw win
I was looking for a pitch to hit. I had a chance to drive it. When I saw it go in the gap I thought maybe there would be a chance to score. Next thing you know, we win the game.
barrel beat
He doesn't give you anything that you're going to put the barrel on consistently. When we beat him, it was just one of those days. We kind of got lucky.
against ahead good guys owe played road tough
We've got a tough road ahead of us, but we've played good against guys like that, ... and we owe Oswalt a beating.
