baseball coaching good hands joe manager third thoughts whoever yankees
No, not at all. Whoever replaces Joe Torre has got their hands filled. He's probably been as good a manager as there's ever been in baseball for a long, long time. My thoughts right now are coaching third base for the Yankees in 2006.
american-coach baseball coach four shut three
I coach by the scoreboard, ... If we are up or tied, I am going to be aggressive. If we are down three or four runs, I will shut it down.
atmosphere baseball chicago decisions east four home maybe people thrown west
I managed in Philadelphia for four years. The whole East Coast, obviously, the atmosphere is a lot different than out West or even in Milwaukee, Chicago or any of those cities. There's going to be times, obviously, where you get some people thrown out at home plate. You're going to make decisions that maybe don't go your way, and that's just the way baseball is.
came guys knew
I knew I was going to see all you guys when I came over here today.
I like our team, ... I like our team.
buys forward guys heat likes looking meeting takes
I'm looking forward to meeting Mr. Steinbrenner. I know he takes a lot of heat -- they say he buys pennants and that -- but I like guys who like to win, and he likes to win.
care coaches envy nice owner winning
It's not envy. It's nice to see an owner care as much about winning as the coaches and players.
taking teach
I'm going to teach Robbie that when he's done taking 25 grounders, we're not done. There's 25 more. There's always going to be 25 more.
lucky
In a lot of ways, we're lucky to be where we are.
came definitely good heard kid lazy learn needs seen single wants word
What Robbie needs to learn is to concentrate every single pitch, every single inning. That will come in time. He's a good kid and he wants to learn, that's encouraging. He is definitely not lazy. That's one word I heard used about him when I came here -- lazy -- but I haven't seen it.

Brian and I talked. We're pretty much on the same page. Nothing's been finalized.

definitely everybody matured thinks
Everybody thinks I'm such a hard-ass. Lemme tell you, if you're a veteran, I'm going to give you your space. In that regard, I've definitely matured a lot.
thinking unique winning yankees
The Yankees are one of those unique organizations. All I'm thinking about is winning another World Series. That's it.
