I appeal to the international community to provide immediate assistance, which is saving hundreds of lives everyday,
I appeal to all involved to avoid use of bombs and violence and really get back to the negotiating table.
But they are not running forward to contribute to this force, so we have to take the forces we get.
I would be surprised if the United States would want to place themselves ... in that situation, of being the ones who are seen to be against the interests of the poor, as being the ones who want to ignore the needs and the human dignity of others,
I wish to stress that the United Nations is eager to be at your side in the efforts to resolve the problems of your country and the region on the basis of universal principles of peace, justice and human rights,
I wish to do all I can to encourage the leaders to muster the spirit of compromise, courage and leadership, which they are capable of,
I would expect the world, those with capacity, to give generously and give willingly, and I'm not just speaking to the governments but also to the private sector and individuals who can contribute,
I would expect the summit to come up with a program of action not just for the United Nations but also for the members states,
If we leave here without agreement we shall give comfort to the worst elements in every society.
If they are not compensated, they are not going to tell you whether their birds are sick. If other pandemics have taught us anything, it is that silence is deadly.
If they are not able to resolve it before the summit (in September), the issue is not going to die, ... They will have to pursue it and, I hope, resolve it before we all go away for Christmas.
If they fail to agree on a common position and action is taken without the authority of the Security Council, the legitimacy and support to any such action will be seriously impaired, ... If, on the other hand, they can come together even at this late hour to address this threat in a united manner and they show compliance with the previous resolutions, then the council authority will be enhanced and the world will be a safer place.
If they sat and discussed frankly and openly, I think we will be able to find a solution,
I have heard the news. We are trying to get more facts about it. It would be extremely worrying if indeed he had disappeared.
