city fans work
We were overwhelmed in the first 10 minutes, that's my responsibility. We were embarrassed for our fans and we were embarrassed for the city of Philadelphia. ... We've got a lot of work to do.
attitude desperate follow game heavy instead plow start state team toronto wrong
We had the wrong attitude to start the game. They play a heavy game, they play an old NHL game and we wanted to play around the game instead of plow through it. When you give a team that's in a desperate state like Toronto some hope, they're going to follow through.
attitude start wrong
We had the wrong attitude to start the game.
dropped energy happened peter second soon start terrific time
We had such a terrific start to the game. And to me, as soon as Peter went out, our whole energy just dropped right off the cliff. Our energy went right down the tubes. That's the second time that's happened and that's got to change.
chance puck second third zone
The puck was in their zone a lot. We were one chance and out. We didn't have any second or third opportunities.
against four gave minutes players top
With four minutes left, we gave up a 3-on-2 against one of the top players in the world right now -- Crosby. You don't want to do that.
gets hopeful jeff
We already know that (Simon) Gagne is that player, ... we're hopeful that Jeff (Carter) gets up to speed.
gets hopeful jeff line players speed
We already know Gagne is that player. We're hopeful Jeff gets up to speed there, but there are other players down the line we can use.
promise
We will be better, I promise you that.
efforts waste
What's disappointing is we had a lot of effort. We made some mistakes. You don't want to waste efforts like we had tonight.
fact good labeled role skill
What is sneaking up is the fact he's got skill and is being labeled as a role player. But his skill is excellent. He does some good things with the puck.
hard ourselves winds
Even as hard as we play, we're doing things to ourselves that end up being very frustrating. We make mistakes, and at the end of the day it winds up zapping our energy.
devastated saying
Even as disappointed and devastated as I was at the outcome, saying those things was wrong. There is no excuse.
against beginning concern critical game goal good great lose penalties period played poor power second special teams three took
First of all we took some poor penalties at the beginning of the second period to let them in the game. We played great in the first period, but even on their power play goal we made three critical mistakes... There are two things that really concern me right now. Against the good teams we lose the special teams game and when you can't kill a penalty, that's a big concern.
