either impossible leadership loss quantify
It's impossible to quantify David's leadership with the loss of a No. 2 starter. If I had to choose, I wouldn't want to part with either of them.
beyond decision hope term year
We hope to make the decision at the end of the year that we want to keep him beyond the term of the deal.

We'd like to get him up here as soon as possible.
best external hoping internal options preparing
We're hoping for the best and preparing for everything else. We're going to look at our internal options and keep our external conversations going.
active danny last shape trade wrong
We have no active trade discussions going. Danny didn't play last year; we need to see what kind of shape he is in. There's nothing wrong with competition.

We wanted to avoid that. He shared that sentiment with us. It's a mutually beneficial deal.
acquired consistent contrary despite endless expect might next piece putting puzzle reports saying since trade year
There is no trade or pending trade despite reports to the contrary and we expect him to be here this year and at a minimum, next year. abundance far provides three top
As far as the outfield, he can play all three positions. He has some athleticism and he provides some speed, which we don't necessarily have an abundance of. He was once a top prospect. He had that reputation.
avoiding beyond both contract core hopeful last mark next player process relationship step term
Avoiding the arbitration process for the next two years with a core player such as Mark is an important step for both he and the club. We're hopeful the contract is the continuation of a relationship that will last well beyond the term of this agreement.
