alex falling past pitch prove size tougher
The whole thing with Alex is he's able to get to that pitch now, where in the past he wasn't able to. It's tougher with his size anyway. He's got long arms. It all has to do with his balance. He's not falling backwards. He's out to prove something.
believe pitchers veteran
Believe it or not, you get some of those veteran pitchers and they can get in some jams and come up with a pitch here or there.
boston bring field keeping messing pitch pitches suppose threw throw track
I suppose we could bring him back and let him pitch in Boston (next week) but he only threw 32 pitches the other day (against Triple-A Syracuse) and I don't think he'll throw a whole lot more (Thursday). I like keeping him on track to pitch on the 16th (at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago) without messing it up.
pitch rather tight
Gus battled through it. I think he'd rather pitch in a tight game. He doesn't like the comfortable lead.
couple gets learn pitch settles sign takes trouble
I expect, once he settles in -- it may takes him a couple hitters, it may take him an inning or two -- once he gets over that, he should be fine. We're not going to yank him at the first sign of trouble because he's here and he's got to learn how to pitch in those situations.
ahead good hitters pitchers
The good pitchers were ahead of the hitters today.
area few last might pitches problem scar shut threw
It's that same area where he had that problem last year. So he only threw a few pitches and shut it down. After you have an injury, it might just be some scar tissue.
dave pitches tells threw
That just tells you something about Dave Bush, because he threw 100 pitches the other day.
chance hopefully pitches stay
That'll be his debut. But hopefully he pitches well and has a chance to stay here a while.
arm behind count easier erratic good pitch works
It was good to see him out there. He was erratic in his command. But he's got such a good arm that he can pitch from behind in the count at times. It will be easier for him when he works ahead.
against care earn feels good job nice pitch test time
It was good to have him back out there. He wasn't as sharp, but it's been two weeks. He's fine. He's healthy. He feels good. Any time you pitch against this team, I don't care how good you are, they test you. They make you earn everything you get and he did a nice job for us.
area few last pitches problem shut threw
It's in the same area he had the problem last year. He only threw a few pitches and we shut him down.
describe hard ok pitching
It's hard to describe his outing. He was pitching OK in spots,
best keeps pitching stronger time
We'll look at it and see who is pitching the best when that time comes. The thing that he does is give us flexibility. If he's in the bullpen, he makes us that much stronger down there. But if he keeps doing what he's doing ...
