Hopefully it's true. He tries to never have a negative thought. But last year, I even admitted, I was surprised to see the power numbers come back the way they did that quickly.
He reacts the way Jeter did 10 years ago. If he makes an error or makes a bad play on the bases, he doesn't let it affect him.
Gordon has been terrific. He's come in the last three times with no room to breathe and has done the job for us.
If I used him as a pinch-hitter, I could probably get away with it because I could pinch-run for him, ... But we want him to be ready to be a D.H.
if he can stay away from the one bad inning and minimize the damage.
I'd hate to think about jumping off the ship after five games into the season. The sky doesn't fall after five games and I'm not concerned.

I can't talk about something I don't know anything about. We feel we really don't want to comment on these things.
I can't take my glasses off. I'm crying like a baby.
He's very intelligent, not pretty intelligent. So I think he was poised to make a decision.
He took part in more than I thought he would take part in. I wouldn't let him do the cutoffs and relays, and I was surprised he did the running. It was basically up to him and how good he felt -- so evidently, he felt fine.
I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility. Bernie, obviously I think he enjoys being here. It's the only place he's ever been. I think he's ? I don't want to say got used to it but I think he understood this year with his reduced role that maybe this is where he should be concentrating.
I don't think that's outside the realm of possibility,
I don't think he feels he needs to take a day off. It's not too bad; it's well enough for him to DH.
