easy gotten impress innings time
He's done nothing but impress us. Every time out, he's gotten nothing but outs. He's down in the zone. His innings have been as easy as anyone's here.
continue evaluation progress six three true
He's done a lot in three weeks, and we want him to continue to progress. I've said all along, I will make the true evaluation in the six weeks, when it's all over. But I like what I see.
cost good great loss shame sleep tonight
We made some great plays. It's a shame the little things we didn't do tonight cost us. I don't sleep too good after losses. I take every loss personally.
bullpen failed tonight
Our bullpen has been pretty good, but tonight we failed Vargas.
came corner guys lived outside
Patterson lived on the outside corner and came in when he had to. He didn't give our guys much to hit.
bigger grow playoff
If it was a playoff game, I think he'd be out there. But we don't want it to grow into something bigger than what it is.
discussion hit microphone throw
If it's a discussion every day, it's a discussion every day. If it's a little microphone I throw in his earpiece ... I'll just tell him to hit stand-up doubles, that's all.
batting practice
He will take batting practice today, and we'll make an evaluation. We'll see how it feels.
changed depth game handling involved met phase pitch talked taught throw throwing
He taught me to be a better receiver, a more comfortable receiver. He taught me how to throw better. I changed my whole throwing once I met him. We talked in depth about handling pitchers, pitch selection. Any phase of the game he was involved in making me better.
bad ball breaking hit
He has made the adjustments. He will look bad on a breaking ball and then he will get a hit on a breaking ball.
beat good
He had good stuff, but Howard beat him.
attitude goes great meek pitchers
He has an attitude when he goes out there, and that's what you want from a pitcher. When you think of all the great pitchers that have come before his time, they all have got an attitude. Some are a little more meek about it. But they all have an attitude.
coming excited guy
He was probably the only guy excited that we were coming over here.
balls center field fly minor played taken
He's played some center field in the minor leagues, and he's taken fly balls pretty much every day out in the outfield.
