camp fighting great guys push spots taken
To me, this camp is great because guys will have to push themselves. We have two spots taken and about 40 guys fighting for the rest.
club kids manage
You manage the club you have. A lot of kids will have a lot of opportunities.
burnett fits holes interest prospects sounds system
You look over their club, the contracts, the prospects in the system and how it all fits in. It sounds like (pitcher A.J.) Burnett will be gone, so there are holes. The interest is, how are those holes going to be filled?
dig home plate
You look back, and that was a real important run. I would dig home plate out if they let me, but I think they would get a little upset.
coming determination great
You look at their physiques, and the determination in these kids, and how they've been coming out here all winter, and working out. Everyone is here early. It makes for a great camp.
believe besides continue far tampa
You look at Tampa and I really don't believe they're that far away. They have to continue to home-grow some talents, and see what they do besides that.
loves ready says
What it says to me is he's ready to play. He loves what he does, and he's ready to play.
rush valuable
We won't rush him. He's too valuable to rush.
difficult game hit runners ugly win
It was an ugly game for us. We didn't pitch, we didn't play defense, we didn't hit with runners on. It's difficult to win a game like that.
beat home run second solo third
The solo (homer) doesn't kill you in the second inning. It's the home run in the third that really hurts. Howard beat him today.
believe catch days productive six
He's still going to catch. But we believe he will be more productive if he doesn't catch six days a week.
games miss push
He's sore, he's going to miss some games anyway, so why push him.
three
Hopefully, we'll have off-days every two or three days,
consistency good great quicker stretch talked together understanding
He's put together a pretty good little stretch here. The thing we've talked about the whole way is consistency through the whole year, understanding you are going to go through some struggles. How are you able to get out of them? Are you able to get out of them quicker than other players? Those are the great players.
