couple finished great last michigan pit position run strategy strong tick
The last couple of races, we haven't finished like we've wanted to, ... But we had a great run at Michigan and a strong run at Fontana. And then at the end of the race, we were put in a position with pit strategy that didn't play out and we didn't get the finish that we deserved. We've got the speed, but we're just a tick off.
best came considered felt front maybe played race sat stayed strategy team trouble win wish
I look at that and wish maybe we played the strategy that (Dale Jarrett) did where he sat at the back and stayed out of trouble and then came through and was even able to win the race, ... We considered a lot of things at Talladega and we felt like the best thing for our team was to race for the win and to be up front and stay out of trouble that way and it didn't really play out.
ended expect fee great guys race stops strategy top work
That ended up being a great lap, ... It didn't fee as if it was going to be a top time, but we'll take it.so, all in all, I am excited. I don't know what to expect for the race really, but I know my Lowe's guys are going to work their butts off with great stops and great strategy and we'll be there when it counts.
gain incredible needed
incredible for us. A big gain is what we needed to do.
chad home kicking tv
I know right now that Chad is probably kicking his TV in back home (in Charlotte, N.C.).
behind casey clean committed good knew needed ranks run ryan stayed top
I knew I needed to get a good, clean start. I also knew Ryan (Newman) was going to get a run on me and when he went to the top I stayed committed to the bottom. One of my friends from the off-road ranks Casey Mears was behind me and I knew I was in good shape.
deep heart inside knew team
I knew deep down inside my heart that this team could still win.
almost bad best continue daytona guys maybe proud race win won work
I'm proud of this race team. These guys continue to work their butts off through adversity, making the best of a bad situation. We almost won another race today. We're doing everything we need to do. We won the Daytona 500 and maybe we'll win the championship.
good risks start toes
It's not a good thing to come from the back, there's going to be a lot of risks that I'm going to have to take to get to the front. I'm going to have to be on my toes at the start of the race.
good risks
It's not a good thing to come from the back. There are a lot of risks I'll have to take,
sit
No. And if Sherman sits him down, they'll sit Sherman down.
advantage air board builds cooler cooling definitely dropping engine hard helped power qualified runs track
The air temperature dropping and the track cooling down helps. Also the air that runs through the engine is a lot cooler so it builds more power and more speed. There definitely was some advantage to going later. It's hard to really tell how much. We were 8th or 9th on the board during practice, and then qualified 3rd. So I think it helped some.
believe best fired job telling trained
It was just telling them to do their best job ... get them fired up for the race. It was something that said, 'I believe in you guys, I've trained you well, do your job.
couple finally four learn race three
After three or four years you finally learn how to race 400-mile races. The first couple of years you take too many chances.
