against bit discuss downs likes line playing points start talk ten yards
Everyone likes to discuss what we haven't done at quarterback, but we could talk a little bit all the way down the line about where we need to get a lot better, ... We need to get a lot better fast, because when you start playing against the Big Ten defenses, yards and first downs and points are even more difficult.
ball begins believe best clock eleven entire game last next obviously opportunity point ready second sure talk terms throughout time year
We have a clock for each team, ... What we try to point out is you need to use every second to get ready for the opportunity to play a ball game because you only have, in this day and age, eleven opportunities, and next year begins twelve. You have to make sure you use your preparation time to get ready for that and most especially use your preparation time throughout the entire year so you're at your best in that last game. That's just something we believe in terms of preparation and something that we talk about and obviously have.
against attention burden early great guy guys holmes involved last people played plays point receiver recognize saw standpoint
We think Santonio Holmes is a great player, ... Early last year, he was about the only guy that was making plays for us. The people we played against saw that and put more attention on him. Some of our young guys then got a little more involved and that eased the burden off Santonio a little bit. If we can get to the point where we can recognize that he is being singled, we need to go to Santonio Holmes, because from a receiver standpoint he's top-notch.
across against bit consistency discuss downs lack likes moment playing points start talk ten three work yards
Absolutely. I think the consistency, or lack thereof -- where we are at this moment is not where you'd like to be after three games. We haven't done little things across the board. Everyone likes to discuss what we haven't done at quarterback, but we could talk a little bit about all the way down the line, where we need to get a lot better. We need to get a lot better fast, because when you start playing against the Big Ten defenses, yards and first downs and points are even more difficult. So we've got a lot of work to do and we've just got to get at it.
points
Yeah, it makes you uncomfortable because we're not 35 points better. It's still going to be about what we do.
ball course energy iowa love run sideline
I like his energy level. During the course of that Iowa game, the more he ran, the more he wanted it. He would run by the sideline and say, 'Get me the ball again.' You love to see that.
guys special
I like having guys that you have to take a special look at,
attacked proud
I'm real proud of the way he's developed. He's attacked being a quarterback.
last since thinking
Everyone, ... has been thinking about it since the end of last season.
beauty change holmes maybe open time within
The beauty of it is any time someone does something within their (defensive) package, then that's going to open up other things. Maybe if they change what they do on Teddy's side, then (receiver) Anthony Gonzalez has a chance, (receiver) Santonio Holmes or whoever.
along football goal goes wanting
That goes right along with our goal of wanting to be a 3.00 football team.
ears gave opportunity outside pinned run teddy
They just pinned their ears back and they were not going to let us outside the edges. They were not going to let Teddy run reverses or those kind of things, which gave us an opportunity to do some other things.
chasing dame fast running
Notre Dame is a fast defense, (but) when they're chasing one way, and Teddy's running the other, they've got a problem.
difference justin reference
I'm not making the reference that Justin did poorly, or that there was a big difference in their grades,
