aggressive count early good guys nine obviously pitch pitches quality streak thinking throw time today work
I wasn't really thinking about it. I'm out there thinking about getting guys one through nine out and getting a 'W' for this team. The streak he had was nice, but obviously it has to end sometime. I know he's a pretty aggressive hitter. Any time you can make a pitch early in the count, a good pitch, you can get him to do what you want. He doesn't usually work the count pretty deep. We were able to throw some quality pitches on him today and get success.
approach facing good guys happy hitters work
Those guys are pretty good hitters so you just have to approach it that way. I got my work in so I was happy about that. I was working just like I was facing the Orioles.
ball bat behind coming guy happen trying
I was just trying to put the bat on the ball and make something happen with the big guy coming up behind me.
average bench care chance consistency felt fifth fun guy knew last matter provide sitting somebody watching win younger
In Atlanta, the fifth guy was always a younger guy who would get skipped. It didn't provide that guy the consistency he needed. Here, the last two years you knew no matter who got the ball, you had a better than average chance to win a game. It made it a lot more fun sitting on the bench watching somebody else pitch. I think they felt the same way. We care about how each other does. There's no segregation.
baffling guy hitters knows special surprising
The guy is a special player. He knows what he's doing out there. He's been baffling hitters for a long time, so it's not surprising to see what he's doing.
ball bat behind coming guys job trying
I'm just trying to put the bat on the ball and make something happen. Obviously, with the big guys coming up behind me, it's their job to get it done. I'm up there just to try and make something happen.
felt foot good hit sixth
I started off on the right foot and hit a little snag. I got back to it in the sixth and felt good overall.
job pay pitches zone
I was up in the zone and they made me pay for the pitches that I didn't get down. I didn't do my job tonight.
balls quick throwing top
I thought I was on top of my game. I was a little quick early, throwing the balls a little too down in the zone, but I was able to make the adjustments.
enjoy game help helps hitting win
I enjoy hitting and anything I can do to help win the game helps the team.
good innings overall third
For two innings I thought I did a pretty good job. I got a little fatigued in the third inning. They were out there swinging, but overall I thought it went pretty good.
believe braves bring bruce effective moss since starters steve table tough
Since the Braves rarely, if ever give up effective starters (see Bruce Chen , Damian Moss , Steve Avery , etc.) it's tough to believe that Marquis will bring much to the table in his post-Atlanta years.
ball beat games though thrown
Mentally, I feel great. You have games where you get beat even though you've thrown the ball well.
balanced bullpen series
To get to the World Series and the NLCS, you have to have a balanced team. That's just not the rotation; it's the bullpen as well.
