approach facing good guys happy hitters work
Those guys are pretty good hitters so you just have to approach it that way. I got my work in so I was happy about that. I was working just like I was facing the Orioles.
game last might normal routine starting
They told me during last night's game that I might be starting today. I did my normal day before routine so I would be ready.
albert definitely distance home looked plate seeing stay
Albert was at home plate seeing if it would hook, but it looked like it was going to stay the whole way. The distance was definitely there.
days mistakes today
Some days your mistakes are going to be hit, some days you're going to get away with them. Today wasn't one of those days.
ball blowing carry change depends extra open stadium wind
I think the ball may have a little extra carry on it. It just depends on how the wind is blowing. Any open stadium will do that: Blowing in or blowing out, it's going to change the effect.
ball bat behind coming guy happen trying
I was just trying to put the bat on the ball and make something happen with the big guy coming up behind me.
battle defense nights offense picked
My offense picked me up tonight, my defense picked me up tonight. You're going to have nights like that. You just battle through them.
bad balls early hole left position team win
I put my team in a hole early and couldn't get out of it. Didn't do my job. I left a lot of balls up in the zone. They made me pay. ... I put my team in a bad position to win this game.
allowed arm balls early good life quick slot tempo work zone
I really had a good tempo with my delivery, which allowed me to work balls down in the zone and have life on the ball. It allowed me to get a lot of quick outs early and get my arm in a good slot every other pitch.
average bench care chance consistency felt fifth fun guy knew last matter provide sitting somebody watching win younger
In Atlanta, the fifth guy was always a younger guy who would get skipped. It didn't provide that guy the consistency he needed. Here, the last two years you knew no matter who got the ball, you had a better than average chance to win a game. It made it a lot more fun sitting on the bench watching somebody else pitch. I think they felt the same way. We care about how each other does. There's no segregation.
days few game hit left mistakes pitches plan struggled
I don't know if I struggled all day, I just got away from my game plan and left a few pitches up in the zone. Some days the mistakes are going be hit out and some days you get away with them.
aggressive believe confidence lose months pitching
If I had the answer, I would have done it two months ago. You've got to go out there and keep pitching and be aggressive and try not to lose confidence and believe in yourself.
help team
I feel I could help this team in that role. If not, so be it.
baffling guy hitters knows special surprising
The guy is a special player. He knows what he's doing out there. He's been baffling hitters for a long time, so it's not surprising to see what he's doing.
