fifth game pitch pitcher pitches run starting theory throw
That was our big theory when I was with Oakland. Run up the guy's pitch counts, 'cause then you get the starting pitcher out of the game in the fifth inning. You're making him throw 100 pitches and he's gone.
gets gives opportunity player run scores
That's what he does best. That's what makes him the player that he is: He gets on base. He scores runs. He gives you an opportunity to score a run when he gets on.
anybody eventually pitchers room runs score team walks work
That's the way this team works. We score a lot of runs in one inning because we work pitchers and work walks and eventually there is no room to put anybody else.
bad break drive fell hard hitter injury kept knee last paid playing reason runs worked
I think I can be a .300 hitter and drive in 100 runs again, definitely. When I had a knee injury (in 2003) I kept playing but I fell into a lot of bad habits. I've worked with Donnie to break those, and I think that hard work paid off last summer. I see no reason why I can't do the things I did before.
chance gave hold run unit
That's the Big Unit we all know and love. He dominated, gave us a chance to win, and made one run hold up. That's what he's done in his whole career.
course homer johnny runs score scratch sit wait win
Over the course of the season, you're not going to score 10 runs every night. You need to win the 2-1 games, too, and we're not going to have to sit back and wait for a big homer to win a game. We can scratch and claw with Johnny and Derek up top, which is important.
baseball running home
Unfortunately, (the rumors) are going to be a part of it. But that's OK. I'm probably tested more than anybody else. I'm not hiding anything. That stuff didn't help me hit home runs. I don't care what people say, nothing is going to give you that gift of hitting a baseball.
ball base good hitting pitch running stay strike valuable walks within
I'm just going to stay within my strike zone. I can be just as valuable getting on base with my walks and running up pitch counts. I'll stay selective. I feel good at the plate, and I'll keep hitting the ball hard.
enjoying guy minute single tough
We just wanted to get in. It's been such a long, tough year. I know everyone in here is enjoying every single minute of this. Especially for a guy like me, and where I started. It's unbelievable.
ability bit changed last lift
We changed it up a little bit (from last year) because my ability to lift was already there. I had that base. We started squatting right away, lunging.
doubt games good offense win
We're going to win some games with our offense, no doubt about it. Our offense is too good not to win.
helped shot
The shot has helped me a lot, ... I had tendinitis.
game great heart kid people players prove realize seen special takes triple whatever
People don't realize this game is not fair. I've seen some great players who, for whatever reason, never got the opportunity. To keep going back to Triple A, when you know in your heart you have nothing to prove there, it takes a special kid to do that.
gotta
We had our shots. You gotta come up with that big hit. And we haven't come up with it yet.
