bad break drive fell hard hitter injury kept knee last paid playing reason runs worked
I think I can be a .300 hitter and drive in 100 runs again, definitely. When I had a knee injury (in 2003) I kept playing but I fell into a lot of bad habits. I've worked with Donnie to break those, and I think that hard work paid off last summer. I see no reason why I can't do the things I did before.
bad best career great harder helped win wins
I think he was harder on himself. He wanted to come in here and win 25 games. He battled for us, and even when he didn't have his best stuff, he helped us win. You know you've had a great career when 17 wins is a bad year.
continue hard hard-work last nice start training work
When I got home, I wasn't sick, so I was able to continue all of the hard work I did last year. It was nice to be able to get back on that routine, start lifting, training and hitting, keep working on those things.
grinding hard work
It's been a lot of hard work and a lot of grinding it out.
definitely hard hard-work work
It's unbelievable. I'm speechless. I'm definitely honored. It's been a lot of hard work and a long road.
best far felt good hard last main putting swing work yankee
This is the best I've felt in a while putting on a Yankee uniform. My swing has been really good so far this year. ... The main thing was just a lot of hard work that Donnie (Mattingly) and I put in last year.
ball breaking face fastball glad hard looking meant pick signed sneak throws until
You never pick up the ball until it's too late. He throws just hard enough to sneak a fastball by you when you're looking for a breaking pitch. I was glad we signed him because that meant I didn't have to face him.
against ball beat club easily gotten last pitcher taste turned turns veteran
Without the veteran ball club we have, we could have very easily gotten swept, especially against a pitcher like Brad. They beat Mo last night, and this could have turned into a disaster. You give away a game, then get beat, and it turns into something bad. We got the taste out of our mouths.
adding beat fortunate huge kept
This was huge especially after the way they beat us yesterday. They don't quit. It's fortunate we kept adding on and didn't let them come back.
came hopefully win
This was a big win for us, especially the way we came back. Hopefully it can get us going a little bit.
ability bit changed last lift
We changed it up a little bit (from last year) because my ability to lift was already there. I had that base. We started squatting right away, lunging.
doubt games good offense win
We're going to win some games with our offense, no doubt about it. Our offense is too good not to win.
You get to the plate and nothing is going through your mind. You see the ball, you see the seams.
ask doubt figured good
You figured they would come back. They're hot, we're hot, so it should be a good series. You couldn't ask for a better ending, no doubt about it.
