hit knew location pitch slider trouble
It was a slider that didn't slide, the same pitch he hit off me before. I knew the location of this pitch was trouble when I let it go.
again monday rest start three turns
It turns into two and three because you rest Monday and start again on Tuesday. That's huge.
atmosphere playoff red
It'll be unbelievable. It's always a playoff atmosphere when you play the Red Sox. It will be a lot of fun.
everybody shows special though together tough yankees
It just shows how tough it is. It shows how special it was, what the Yankees accomplished before we got here. Even though we have 25 stars, we're together - that's why everybody comes to the Yankees, to win.
appreciate emotion love says sure uniform
It's a different emotion when you put on that uniform and it says 'United States' on the front. I didn't appreciate it as much then as I do because I was just a kid. It was a lot of fun. I'm sure Derek is going to love the experience.
champions given good seems team win
We have to go play what seems like the World Champions in Tampa. We have to win every day, and we're going to play the team that's actually given us the most problems. We have to play good baseball.
comeback
We always believed. We always thought we'd be here in the end and now we're not going to let our comeback be wasted.
battle behind coming fall far giving next rut turns win
We know it's still early, but you don't want to fall as far behind and get in that rut where you have to battle back. You don't want to find yourself coming to the ballpark, giving away a win and then the next day, you get beat. Before you know it, it turns into something bad.
devil oh rays thinking
We were all thinking in the back of our minds, oh God, here we go, the Devil Rays have our number.
continue hard hard-work last nice start training work
When I got home, I wasn't sick, so I was able to continue all of the hard work I did last year. It was nice to be able to get back on that routine, start lifting, training and hitting, keep working on those things.
course homer johnny runs score scratch sit wait win
Over the course of the season, you're not going to score 10 runs every night. You need to win the 2-1 games, too, and we're not going to have to sit back and wait for a big homer to win a game. We can scratch and claw with Johnny and Derek up top, which is important.
ability believe joe veteran
They've been here so many times, I think with Joe and the veteran players, they believe. They believe in their ability and they believe they can make a difference.
