lost stay walked
When he walked Christensen, I thought he had lost it. I let him stay for two more batters and got us in a jam.
hurt missing spots
He was missing his spots and that hurt him.
attitude guy kept saw special spirit takes utterly
He couldn't have done anything more for us than what he did. To his credit, he kept up his attitude and his competitive spirit and his focus. It takes a special guy to do that because what you saw (from the defense) was just ridiculous, utterly ridiculous.
ended gave job key needed ninth nobody walk winning
He did more than he needed to do. He did the job because nobody could do the job (on Saturday). Unfortunately, he just gave up that key walk in the ninth that ended up being the winning run.
ball chance complexion exactly game ground hit left needed runners runs score scoring support table three tie
He did exactly what we needed him to do but we didn't support him on offense. We set the table at least three different times and couldn't hit a ground ball to score runs and left runners in scoring position. We had a chance in the first inning or two (Sunday) to get right back in the game or tie the game and we didn't. The complexion of the game is different if it is tied.
evident hard home last pitch pull rewarded strong work
He is so strong, and that was evident that last home run. He got jammed on the pitch and was strong enough to pull it out of the ballpark. That is good, hard work getting rewarded right there.
defensive execution figure fine finish focus key line losing offensive pitch situation teams whether winning
You have to finish the job. That is how you win. There is a real fine line between winning and losing and it is just about execution. Whether it is offensive execution or defensive execution or making a pitch in a key situation, that is the key to success. Young teams need to figure that out so they know what to put their focus on when the situation arises.
ball job kept mixing nice three threw
He did a nice job of mixing his pitches. And he kept the ball down all day. He had three pitches, and he threw all three for strikes.
ahead good kick known tail
He got ahead in the count, and he located really well. We've always known he is a good pitcher. Sometimes you just need something to kick you in the tail a little bit. He responded today.
guys staff
We're going to staff it out because we have some guys who need some work.
both conference gives opportunity ready seasons teams trying
We're both in the same boat. Both teams are trying to get ready for their conference seasons and both teams are very young. This gives us an opportunity to just play some games.
factions field group guys left seem somewhere stepping team trying
We have two factions on our team right now. We have guys who are trying to do too much because other guys aren't stepping up. And then we have another group of guys who are just out in left field somewhere and don't seem to get it.
base beat guys job left scoring
We just didn't do our job on offense. We left too many guys on base and we didn't come through when we had scoring chances, and we got beat because of it.
bit needed
We needed to get him a little bit of time, but not too much.
