football game talk three
I want to talk football with the players. I want to find out what they want to be doing in three years. I want to know how important this game is to them.
december everybody five league looking october period schedule schedules six tough unusual
If you look at the schedule it's got a period from October 29 to December 10 where we play five out of six on the road. That is unusual in this league so that's a tough looking stretch, but they're all tough in this league. Everybody can play in this league and schedules are all tough.
catch line player presents problem return runs
I like his versatility. Having a player you can line up all over the place presents a problem for the defense. He can return and catch and we all know he runs well.
good
I have no idea. We'll get a good player. I know that.
everybody wants
Sure, everybody wants 'The Guy' back there. That's just the way it is. It's the way it will always be.
awesome great opportunity
It's a great day. ... It's an awesome opportunity for me and my family. First off, we've got a lot to do.
battle continued good kid matter surround
This kid has continued to battle for this franchise. All you have to do is look around this league. It doesn't matter who the quarterback is, if you don't surround him with good people, and you don't put him in a good system, there aren't many who are going to be successful.
best closer doubt easy gave knew mike opportunity relationship
It's easy for us to see (Flanagan) as a player, but Mike knew him as a person. So really Mike was, I want to say the closer in the deal. He was the one with the relationship that gave us the best opportunity to get the kid. No doubt about that.
ball everybody people talk throws
A lot of people talk about that. Everybody throws the ball a little differently.
far football front gone hard job people protecting tied toll understanding work
Sacks will take their toll on anybody, but there are a lot of things that go into that. Sacks are tied to two (types of) people, the people up front and (the quarterback). (Carr) will do a much better job with the football as far as getting it gone and understanding where he has problems. And we'll work hard at protecting him.
accomplish center darn hard hope last means moved played season staff steve unselfish veteran watched
I can't tell you how much it means to a new staff to have a veteran like Steve. He was very unselfish last season when he moved from center to guard. We watched film of every play last season, and he just played so darn hard on all of them. Steve means a lot to what we hope to accomplish this season.
hands problems
I don't think he'll have any problems getting his hands on the ball.
good left work
All I know right now is that we're going to get a real good player. Nothing's etched in stone. We're still evaluating the prospects, and there's work left to do.
