Usually in a game like this you're hopeful for one good shot at a pitcher like Pedro. And we got that in the sixth inning. We couldn't ask for any better chance than we had there, with the people we had coming to the plate. We got nothing out of it.
Usually in a game like this you hope for one good shot at a pitcher like Pedro. It wasn't whether they had good at-bats, they just weren't productive even if they hit the ball hard. We had the people you wanted at the plate in the order you wanted and expected to be productive, but we didn't get it.
Usually in a game like that you hope for one good shot against a guy like that and we got it. With the bases loaded and nobody out you expect to get something out of it. We couldn't have asked for anything better with our heart of the order coming up. We had the people we wanted coming to the plate.
We struggled tonight and it never comes easy. The pitching did a good job for us tonight.
I think that would be something that would get our attention for the future at least. Why not? That's the only way you are going to be able to look up in the shoulder or the elbow itself, have a pretty good idea of what's in there.
It all comes from the pitching. If you have good pitching, it keeps you in ballgames.
I thought overall it was a very good year. We had a good first half and a terrible second half. In spring training, if you asked people what would you be happy with, I think they would have said they would be happy with a .500 record.
We're not going to have the kind of club that's going to just outscore teams. We're going to need good pitching along with timely hits. That's what worked for 90 games last season.
We had our emotions in control. We just made a couple of a bad pitches, really. We didn't make good pitches in this series, and they hit them, especially tonight.
It's good news and we are very excited about that, but it's a wait-and-see thing, too. We will wait and see how he reacts to this and how he feels, and when he goes out there and starts working again, then we will determine how good that news is.
I'm not going to jump on the wagon now and say, yes indeed, here we are. Certainly, it has been a nice mixture of good pitching and the offense has come to life.
It wasn't a good offensive night. We didn't have too many good at-bats tonight. You can't do much with one run.
It was a good comeback. Stirring. We just couldn't finish it off.
It was a 4-2 road trip I was looking at it. I forgot all about it. One thousand wins means you've been around a while and you've had a few good teams.
