Edward Palmer Thompson, usually cited as E. P. Thompson, was a British historian, writer, socialist and peace campaigner. He is probably best known today for his historical work on the British radical movements in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, in particular The Making of the English Working Class. Great cultural conversation used to show up in poems and essays. It's alive and well but in superficial places like commercials.
For some people, it's never going to be time for this event to be the subject of a movie. But that doesn't mean, I think, that we as a culture reduce ourselves to silence about it.
Games between Coventry and Belfast are always close affairs and this was no exception.
