Edward Palmer Thompson, usually cited as E. P. Thompson, was a British historian, writer, socialist and peace campaigner. He is probably best known today for his historical work on the British radical movements in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, in particular The Making of the English Working Class. Our police officers are out there risking their lives. The least we can do is help the family they leave behind. We can also show our appreciation to the officers who are still with us. Morale is not at its highest with budget cuts, and while we can't pay them, we can come out and show how much we believe in them and support them. We have a great bond with our precinct, but it is just like telling your wife you love her. You can't just say it once and forget. You need to keep these bonds strong.
