happen head seen year
To have it all happen in one year is interesting in my first year as a head coach. But it's nothing I haven't seen before.
came cut defender defense heart lays passing player plays polished raw remember rookie smart soul surprises team watched work year
I watched him work out right before his rookie year and I remember how raw he was when he first came out of Alabama. Just to see him now, how polished of a player he is, how smart a defender he is, how he plays the passing lane, how he kind of lays in the cut and surprises the defense - he's just come such a long way and he's the heart and soul of his team with the way he plays.
developing rhythm trend year
Our trend the whole year has been developing a rhythm in the first quarter. Then once (Kevin Garnett) comes out we kind of get off kilter.
beginning establish league position wants year
It's a big year for him. I think he wants to come in and establish his position in the league again, like he did out of college. He's got to re-establish himself. It's a new beginning for him.
happy plan year
There was nothing about this year that we're happy about. There's frustration for everyone. But we do have a plan. The plan is to get better in a lot of areas.
approach brought came earlier game mental nails tough year
You've got to have a mental approach that's got to be as tough as nails because of the way they play here. I thought earlier in the year we had that when we came in here and won. In Minneapolis I didn't think we had that same approach when they brought the game to us.
rainbow storm ends
There is a rainbow at the end of the storm.
effort tonight lasts
Tonight was a disappointing effort. I thought we competed the last three quarters but in the first quarter we did not compete, we participated, and that's not acceptable.
games kevin too-much
I thought we came out with too much respect at the beginning of the game and were on our heels instead of coming out attacking the way we did the last few games without Ricky and Kevin.
playing
We always want to have hope. Mathematically, we're still alive, so we're still playing for something.
couple dire far pieces rebuilding
We're not in such dire straits as everyone thinks. We're probably in the rebuilding process, whatever, but I think we're a couple pieces away, or not that far away from getting to where we want to be. ... But it's a process.
focus mental road trying
You have to have focus on the road and a mental toughness, that's what we're trying to find.
aggressive basketball hit jump line nine playing road second settling stopped tells
We got out playing the way we wanted to play basketball in the first quarter. In the second quarter, we hit a road block. We stopped being aggressive and started settling for jump shots. We only got to the free-throw line nine times. That tells me that we weren't being aggressive.
heat hit shoot third train turned
We hit a wall. We hit a freight train in the third quarter. Offensively we couldn't execute, we couldn't shoot and we couldn't score. ... They turned the heat up and we didn't respond.
