adding players start wrong youth
There's nothing wrong with that. Now you can start adding up the one- and two-year players and see that we've got a lot of youth on our side.
emotions enjoyed seeing youth
I enjoyed seeing the emotion. I enjoyed seeing that it hasn't become commonplace (for the Braves). They had an infusion of youth this year.
added awareness driving experience fit gone happen importance matter next process realize runs seems short stretch time weight youthful
We have a youthful lineup. They have gone through a stretch where they have collectively come up short driving runs in. Each time it doesn't happen there seems to be more importance or a heightened awareness the next time, an added weight to be fit into place. That's just part of the experience process they have to get through. They have to realize that no matter what happens, we're going to play another game.
ability bit help himself slow trying
I'm trying to help him slow himself down a little bit. He was a little bit better (Wednesday) night, but I have an ability to slow him down a little bit more.
bat behind fourth guy hitting initially kid legitimate maybe obviously opportunity pick pitch power ran run stuck support took
Initially we stuck him in there because we had run out of options. He is a big kid who has some power and we thought maybe we can find a guy to pick up some run support when they didn't want to pitch to Helton. Obviously he took that opportunity and ran with it. He is a legitimate fourth bat in the lineup. He is not just hitting behind Helton any more.
initially
Initially we just wanted him to be able to get healthy. And now for him to come back and be able to pitch, that's a plus.
bring environment perfect players
In a perfect world, you bring young players into an environment (like Atlanta),
plays
It's still a long season. We'll see how it plays out.
emphasize falls job player scouts
It's something we have thought about and if it falls into place, it falls into place, ... But I don't want to do it just as a novelty; I want to do it for some meaning. It think it would emphasize the job player development has done for us, and the job the scouts have done.
good invest
It's not free. He is going to invest in his future. It's a good plan.
age bond relative special time
The bond is special between a father, especially relative to his father's age and the time (in his life),
backwards bigger breaking issue might pitching start starting
The bigger issue is the first-pitch fastballs they are squaring up. He might have to start pitching backwards (by starting batters with breaking pitches) and doing some things different off the mound.
body given parts road
There's years when we'd have given body parts for 5-4 road trips.
steps
This is just another step, and we have a lot of steps to take to get where we want to be.
