bit breaking coming early easy fastball feeling felt fifth giving innings momentum pushing quick stopped strong taking wind
I got some easy outs in some quick innings with some changeups to the lefties, ... Coming back and taking the lead, giving us momentum after the fifth inning, I just started feeling strong and stronger. I felt like my fastball was livelier. The wind stopped pushing so much at my back, which I think made my breaking ball a little bit better because early on I didn't think it was good.
air balls blowing confidence damage gives guess guys help luckily starting team wind
Luckily for us we just got more balls in the air than they did. These guys can do enough damage on their own but I guess if I can help out the cause, I'll keep doing it. If the wind is blowing out, we have a team that can put up some runs. That gives confidence to the starting pitching.
expected last picking pirates run win
It's a little different vibe. Being in Boston, you're expected to win every night. Here, they're picking us to run neck-and-neck with the Pirates in last place.
team winning people
People don't own teams to lose money. If you ask any owner whether they would rather make $20 million and come in last place or lose $20 million and win a World Series, there's only one guy who honestly would take that championship: George Steinbrenner. Nobody else.
anybody includes listen whatever win won
When you win the division, you have the right to do whatever you want. That includes forfeit if they want to. They won the division. They don't have to listen to anybody else.
bunch games win
I think we can win 100 games here being a bunch of nuns.
earlier hang locked pitching starting tried
The starting pitching hasn't locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there.
beneficial bit car close felt good leaving million obviously point signed wreck
I signed at a pretty good discount. They felt going year-to-year would be more beneficial for me financially. ... They felt like I was leaving close to $4 million on the table. But I could be in a car wreck tomorrow. So, at this point in my career, it's obviously benefiting me with a little bit of security.
running somebody
Even if he wanted me to go in the ninth, I'd have told him to put somebody else in there. I was running out of juice.
playing red somewhere soon turn tv
Probably as soon as I turn on the TV and see the Red Sox playing and I'll be playing somewhere else.
boomer monkey obviously threw
Boomer obviously threw a monkey wrench in everybody?s plans.
accustomed matter opera soap
I've become accustomed to it. It's always a soap opera around here, no matter what. If there's not a soap opera going on, it's not Boston.
happiness super
Tell you what, if they keep doing that all year, I'll be super happy.
accustomed body few good mound time tired
You feel good physically, but your body does things the first time you get on the mound that you're not accustomed to the first few months. So you get tired quickly.
