base forgot funny looked might nobody pitch swung third
I immediately looked at Dale Sveum and forgot that he was my third base coach. He might have tipped him off or he might have just been aggressive. I don't know, but I thought it was funny nobody swung at that pitch all year.
earlier hang locked pitching starting tried
The starting pitching hasn't locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there.
almost believe identical last lucky pitch throw
I got lucky again. I'll just keep hacking. I really just couldn't believe where the pitch was. It was almost identical to last time. I thought he was going to throw me away and it was still kind of middle-in a little bit.
believe lucky pitch
I got lucky again. I couldn't believe where the pitch was.
against door four funny guys last league neighbor next pitching played playing three
It's funny pitching against guys you played with the last three or four years. It's like playing against your next door neighbor in Little League or something. It makes you want to laugh.
coach enjoy hands knowing laid looking nice personally pitching throwing unless
It's nice to have that familiarity, knowing how you should be looking and how you should be throwing the ball. I personally enjoy a pitching coach who's very laid back, very hands off for the most part, unless you have a problem.
ball chance earlier four gave hang hit home locked mistake pitching score starting stay tried
I gave up four runs, but it was on two home runs, two mistake pitches. Really, other than that, they didn?t hit the ball that hard. I just tried to stay focused. It?s been like that for us for a while. The starting pitching hasn?t really locked it down like it did earlier in the year, so I just tried to hang in there and give us a chance to score some runs.
bit breathing compare easier eight facing feels game gives goes hole league mentally national nine pitch pitcher power tough wearing yankees
Facing the Yankees 19 times a year, that lineup is so power packed -- even the eight hole and nine hole sometimes. It's tough to pitch to. It's mentally wearing on you as the game goes on. For me to be over here in the National League, just to have the pitcher in the nine hole, gives me a little bit of breathing room. I don't think there's any lineup in the National League that can compare with that one. For me, it feels like it's easier to get over the hump.
approach couple far felt few guys jason pitch pleased selection strong
I wasn't pleased with the results, but I felt strong in my first couple of innings. Working with Jason will take a few times to get on the same wavelength, as far as pitch selection and how I want to approach getting guys out.
across against close crowd few field front game guys hard last league neighbor pitching playing straight team
(Yesterday) was as close as I'm going to get to a regular-season game -- pitching against my old team and pitching in front of a crowd you like pitching in front of. It's just funny, man. You look across the field and see all the guys you've been playing with the last few years. It's like playing against your neighbor in Little League or something. It's hard to keep a straight face.
coin pitch pitching
If I have to pitch out of the 'pen, I'll pitch out of the 'pen. The way I'm pitching right now, if it comes down to a coin flip, I'm going to lose.
against games good knew last looks race season sure three tight time yankees
I'm sure everyone looks at the standings at one time or another. We knew the Yankees would be there from Day 1. We knew it would be a tight race and it will probably come down to the last three games of the season against these guys. They're two good teams.
felt fine pleased
I'm not pleased with the results, but I felt fine physically.
good home runs sleep
I'm not disappointed at all. It's the first outing, man. If I were to give up 100 runs I'd go home and get a good night's sleep and come back tomorrow.
