eye gm job manager recipe
You can't do this job with a GM and a manager that don't see eye to eye, that aren't on the same page, ... That's a recipe for disaster.
certainly saying start thinking
We've been saying summer. Could it be sooner? It certainly could be sooner. Right now, he's still got a lot of things to do before we start thinking about when he could actually get to us.
ball chance confidence game good takes win
We have good confidence if Shawn Chacon takes the ball that we're going to have a chance, ... We'll be in the game and we'll have a chance to win it because he's done that well for us this year.
bottom coming extra finding individual interest line perform players produces provides rare retain severe stage
Finding players that can perform on the big stage in New York, it makes it that much more important to retain those players. Hideki's a rare individual where he produces on the field, contributes to the bottom line in winning, but he also provides some extra intangibles because of the severe interest coming over from Japan.
gotten high money reason thin
Obviously, this winter, where it's such a thin market, the reason the money has gotten so high is because there's very little choices.
build optimistic pushes
It pushes him back. How long, I can't say. He's a starter, so we have to build him up. Dr. Watkins was very optimistic that he'll be back for us at some point. I just don't know when.
happened treating
It's not our workouts, we're not treating him. It happened while he was out there.
qualify style talking throughout until
It's not my style to qualify where we are throughout the process, ... We'll keep talking until we get it done or not.
body felt telling threw
It's nothing to be alarmed about. It's a process, and he's been doing so well. He threw one inning, fastballs only, and he felt sore. His body is telling him to back off a little, so that's what we're going to do.
felt piece williams wonderful
For 2006, we felt that Bernie Williams could be a contributor in a different way for us. We think he can be an important piece for us, and if it works, that would be wonderful for us.
afford catcher early guy offensive probable process
It's too early in the process to say, but it's possible. I can't tell you if it's probable or not, because it's only Nov. 16. We have an in-house guy that is a fly-ball catcher at the very least. With the offensive lineup we have, we can afford that.
ability form spot starts
It starts to form something we're very comfortable with. He's versatile. He can spot start, he can long relieve, he can situational lefty. He has the ability to do all of those without complaint, and that's attractive.
bringing desire strong wants
It was never discussed. I just know that the desire was very strong for him to keep playing. He believes, without question, that he's got a lot to offer. We're not bringing him back just because he wants to come back; we feel he can be a contributor as well.
bigger enjoy everybody excited forward future great people work
Everybody is going to be a little nostalgic, not just the fans, but the people who work in this building. But then we're also excited about what the future brings. So it's a great balance. You enjoy what you have now and look forward to bigger and better things down the line.
