I plan to return to the court as soon as my ankle is fully recovered.
But he was, in his most difficult moments, more awkward than I anticipated.
But I feel good about the way I played tonight. I was moving well and feeling healthy so it was all good.
At 1:15 in the morning for 20,000 people to still be here, I wasn't the winner, tennis was, ... I don't know if I've ever felt this good here before.
That's an amazing thing. I've been through a lot of things in my life. A lot of things have taken me away from the lines of a tennis court. But it's never taken me away from here. Twenty years here feels better than 19, so thank you.
That means you go out in the match and you address it with urgency and you have to play well, ... He's not the first guy to make you feel that way, but he's certainly the guy that's doing it better than anybody now.
I love playing here -- a lot of memories, a lot of great matches. This is disappointing. It would have been nice to be here, but it's not worth being less than my best.
I'll have to really step it up Friday, that's for sure. Seeing his form over the last year and a half, I'd say I'd have to be doing a lot of things well, no question about it.
I'll gladly take somebody along the ride with me,
I'll eat well, put my feet up, then take a little extra time warming up. I feel surprisingly good, believe it or not. The work's done. It's just about executing.
I know he's been playing well and he's been picking up his standard, ... I've got to believe he's only gotten better. But you know, it's something I'm looking forward to: a good quality match for sure.
I know it's right up there because this is what you work so hard for,
I just lost to a guy that was better, ... He's the best I've ever played against. Normally, if I played that way against anybody else, I'd be favoring myself. Anything you try to do, he potentially has an answer to it. He plays the game in a very special way. I haven't seen it before. Pete (Sampras) was great. No question. But there was a place to go with Pete. There's no such play like that with Roger.
I just have a lot to be thankful for inside those lines, and certainly outside those lines as well, ... I'm more motivated now than ever to go out there and figure out a way through the battle.
