In all honesty, the guys we've been playing, it hasn't been a whole lot different, anyway. Whatever we've done to this point hasn't really worked. I'll go the other way. Honestly, it's been a struggle no matter who we put out there.
What a trade they made getting Nathan and Liriano and another guy that led the International League in strikeouts,
We did some things to better ourselves to play with that group. For the most part, we haven't been able to do that. We thought we'd have more depth. We just haven't been able to have our guys out there for the kind of time that we would like.
Those were two guys we were hoping would be regular guys, ... And we miss their leadership, too. Being there on a regular basis would allow that.
The guy has power, there's no question about it, ... The peaks and valleys, that's going to be the decision on Carlos Pena. Are we getting to a point where we're getting more consistent? I would say that I'm seeing some signs, sure. That's why I want to see this all the way to the end. I wouldn't want to see a total dropoff myself.
The athletic players (on the Devil Rays) fit me, and I would love to be able to work with a team like this.
Nothing's been promised, ... It was an opportunity to talk baseball and tell them why I think I'm a good candidate.
I'm going to be flat-out: When we started the season, we thought we had a group that we were going to be able to grow and work with and try to get better,
I just wish that he would have went home. Didn't want to give up a run that way.
I like what I see of him, but there's room for improvement.
We've been talking about this for way too long,
We're struggling, no doubt about it. There's nothing we can sprinkle on these guys, though. There's no magic. Just keep working.
This year, if I'm voting, I'm voting for Colon.
What was there to like about this game? It was 10-4 and probably could have been worse,
