felt hitting morning pitching urgency work
We flip-flopped things this morning to get the pitching and hitting in before that. We're going to work on our fundamentals all spring, so we felt like that wasn't an urgency right now.
base bunt feels felt game hit maybe might prefer rather swing
I told him that I'd prefer him not to do that. He felt he could maybe get a bunt base hit and, like I said earlier, if he makes it, then we're OK. But even if he makes it, it still might not be the right play.. ... He feels that's part of his game in his mind. But, personally, no, I'd rather him swing the bat.

applaud coming felt guys responsibility surgery team time
A lot of guys could have said I'll take the surgery and take their time coming back. But he got back out there because he felt a responsibility to this team and I applaud him for that.
along button felt flying good panic push speak work
All along I felt he would be fine. I didn't want to push the panic button because I speak to him every day and know how he feels. I had no doubt. It was just good to see him out there and getting his work in. He got through with flying colors, which is good.
cautious felt foot innings loose starting took
He's been really banged up with his foot and his back's been stiffening up on him, ... With over 220-something innings this year, I just felt like we'd kind of be cautious with him and he was starting to stiffen up. Couldn't really get loose during the game, so I took him out.
felt stayed throwing
He felt good, he was throwing well. We stayed with him.
best bonds closer felt good great
I felt good about the match-up. Bonds is a great hitter, but my closer is one of the best in the game.
asked felt guy last work
I asked him how he felt. He said he felt great. I told him this was his last hitter, get this guy for me. And it didn't work out.
expect goes
You don't know what to expect when someone goes through something like that,
miss
We're going to miss (Mark) Mulder, ... That's good, I guess, huh?
dictate knows mound needs ready schedules wants whatever
We're going to let Pedro pretty much dictate when he's ready to get on the mound or do whatever he wants to do. We're going to let him take his time. He's a veteran. He knows what he needs to do. We don't need to put any schedules on him because that can always change.
playing until
We're going to keep playing until the end,
bullpen looks
We're going to keep him in the bullpen. I like the way the bullpen looks right now.
