Then some guys just walk away and feel great. They lose 50 or 60 pounds. Hopefully I can join that group and not the other group.
That's a tough spot to put yourself into, with one of the best RBI guys ever. I wish he would have hit it a little harder. We might have had a chance to turn two. But Figgins made a nice play just to get the one out and keep it a one-run game.
If we have a lead in the seventh inning and you're throwing him two innings and Frankie one, we're looking pretty good, ... Everybody knows what Escobar can do, and he's giving guys like myself and Brendan Donnelly some rest. And if you look at what we've done the past few weeks, we're as strong as we've ever been. That's a pretty good thing to have.
I was real proud of our guys and their tenacity and staying together after we were down 12.
There are a few guys around here who think he is the best hitter we face. And I'm one of them. I have no clue how to get him out. Every ball he hits, he hits hard.
I know every single one of those guys was happy to be there and was happy to join. I know that word will get out to other guys that this is something you want to do. I tell you what, we took it serious. The game the other night when we lost, you didn't hear a word in the locker room. Everybody was disappointed. We took it serious and went out there hard but we just came up short.
For any athlete, you never can tell what's going to happen four years, five years down the road,
It's something special. It's not just media hype. You can sense it with coaches and players. Then you get out into the community, and you realize what a huge game this is for both cities.
It went OK. I can't complain. I was out there, I was in pads and I finished practice.
It's different kinds of strengthening things. Some things that are more specific to strengthen the things around your back, things you don't think about. I'm just going to see how I feel after today's practice.
I'm most proud of the fact I carried myself on and off the field consistently for what the NFL stands for.
Just looking at society as a whole, there are a lot of different things that we are not doing as a group to make sure we are close. Everything is in transit. People are moving from place to place. You can have a neighbor you live next to for five years and never speak to, and nobody has a problem with that.
Dont forget, I was the soft, pudgy kid in school that everyone made fun of.
I think I was one of those kids that I might not fight you if you stepped on my shoes or stole my lunch money or that kind of stuff. But if you picked on a girl or something like that, that would cause me to rear up a little bit.
