play ends knows
You don’t know what’s going to happen in the end, and that’s what the best plays are.
powerful hatred progress
Sometimes, unfortunately, hatred is more powerful than progress.
serendipity rewards prepared
Serendipity always rewards the prepared.
hate passion hell
Like most playwrights, I hate talkbacks with a passion that can burn a hole through hell.
needs actors done
Playwrights are the most gregarious writers - to get our work done, we need actors, directors, set designers.
writing race
I always say that I'm a writer who writes more from place than race.
white mirrors broadway

running drama bridges
It is expensive to give plays subtitles, especially for a short run, so most new dramas rarely cross the transcontinental bridge.
struggle play dvds

men white theatre

people leader trying

struggle love-you writing
I've had frank conversations with theaters who say, 'We love your play, but we've already done a play by another black person this year,' or 'I don't think the kind of people you write about are the ones our audience wants to see'... Up and coming young black female writers are still struggling to have their voices heard and have their plays produced.
fun jealous journey
Cultivating relationships with people who've achieved what you want to achieve makes the path fuller and more fun. You don't know everything, and that is so okay, because there are many people who want to help you along your journey. I used to think people above me might get jealous because I wanted to do what they did. But no, people are much nicer than that.
self-confidence self mind
Don't let others put thoughts into your mind that takes away your self-confidence.
